Dear Church Family,
This Sunday is Pentecost, the church's birthday, and we have so much to celebrate. Wear red, our annual fun tradition. Red is the liturgical color of the Holy Spirit, used for confirmations, ordinations, and Pentecost. Every year I roll out my red canvas sneakers, very Mr. Rogers, but it is an important reminder. Red for joy. Sneakers to run with the Good News. Sara Reece's painting of said sneakers hangs above the door to my office, as a daily reminder of what I am to be about. How will you celebrate and welcome the Holy Spirit in what you say, and do, and wear?
We will have our service this Sunday, and then we will have a wonderful celebration for families, our Summer Kick-Off Children's Festival. We will have booths and games. There will be food trucks, so fun for kids of all ages. This would be a great event to invite your new neighbors or rustle up your grandkids. May the joy explode!
Sunday night will be a beautiful contemplative service led by the Robbs looking at the work of the Holy Spirit, with a special time for healing prayers and anointing for those that choose it. Paul and Joanne were instrumental when this service first began long before I arrived. I hope you will join us.
Lastly, Becky+ will be away from us the month of June working on her Doctor of Ministry degree. Pray for her as she is off in Sewannee, and we look forward to her return in July.

Join us this Friday for the first movie of our summer line up- Sing 2! We will hold all movies indoors in Brydon Hall at 6pm, so come rain or shine. We will have popcorn and ice cream floats for this one, but you are more than welcome to bring food and drink from home to enjoy while you watch. We hope you will join us for this!

Please join us Sunday afternoon for the Contemplative Service at 5:00 PM. This service will continue our celebration of the Feast of Pentecost and the blessings we receive from the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Paul and Joanne Robb will lead us in songs from the Taize tradition and there will be prayers for healing and an opportunity for anointing and blessing of those who desire it, lead by Patty Smith. We hope you will join us.

CHILDREN'S CARNIVAL-THIS WEEKEND | |

Please join us THIS Sunday, June 5th for the Children’s Carnival from 11:30am- 1:30pm. Bring your children, grandchildren, neighbors and friends. It will be so much fun. We will have food, games and lots of laughter.
If you would like to volunteer to work a station, please let us know.

Thank you to those donating cakes for the cake walk for this Sunday’s Children’s Carnival. We ask that all cakes for the fair should be placed in the 4th Quarter Room on the 5th. If someone wants to drop off something early, on Saturday, you can put them in the kitchen. If you haven’t signed up to bring a cake and still want to, that’s okay too. Please bring them. (store bought or homemade) We are grateful!

Please join us this Saturday at 9am for a Group Exercise Class in Brydon Hall, lead by Ale Meade. Get ready for a functional training class that will include some cardio, strength and core that will take your fitness to the next level and will help you with to improve you everyday life. We are so excited! We are putting together a new Church Directory. It will even come with an app for your phone so that you can locate people's contact information while you are on the go. Our dates to have your pictures taken are June 15-18. Just for participating you will receive a complimentary 8x10 portrait and a copy of the church directory. You will view your images right away and have the chance to purchase family portraits for your own memories and to give as gifts.

Meals for the Clinic Volunteers
As many of you know, Saint James the Less Free Clinic meets every Wednesday evening. It is staffed by some INCREDIBLE volunteers who care in remarkable ways for our community. We have the opportunity to provide meals for them. If you would like to bring food over for 8-10 people before clinic starts on a Wednesday evening, click HERE to choose your date. Emergency Food Pantry
Right outside our Saint James the Less Free Clinic we have a food pantry. It is available 24/7 and used a great deal as immediate needs come up. Please donate non-perishables to this. It would be an incredible blessing to our community.

Pantry: Spaghetti sauce, noodles, boxed potatoes, oatmeal, pork & beans, Baked beans, Queen size sheets
Adult Clothing: Women’s bras (C and larger cup; 38 and larger band), Women's underwear, Men’s athletic shoes (sizes 10 and larger), Men’s undershirts (sizes L, XL, and 2X), Men’s boxers and briefs (sizes L, XL, and 2X), Men’s jeans (all sizes)
Children's Clothing: Boy’s clothing & Girl’s clothing (sizes 10- 18), Boy t-shirts, Socks, summer shoes (sandals, flip flops, etc.)
*They are now looking for spring and summer items.

POP TOPS
We are still collecting Pop Tops for Ronald McDonald house. Hang on to them or bring them by when you can. This is a valuable resource that goes to help families with children in the hospital here in Richmond.

Lord, we lift up this nation struggling with itself these days, reeling from this pandemic and its repercussions. Encourage us to faithfulness, righteousness, and compassion for all God’s Children. We lift up Justin, Archbishop of Canterbury, Michael, our Presiding Bishop, Susan, Jennifer, and Porter our Bishops, Rock+ and Becky+, our priests. May they be strengthened and encouraged as the work with us to proclaim your Good News in this world. We pray for Joe, our President, Glenn, our Governor, and Steve, our Mayor, and all our elected officials. Guide them to lead us to the common good.
We ask your prayers for peace; for goodwill among nations; and for the well-being of all people. We pray for health care in Metropolitan Richmond: For clinics, medical personnel, and all institutions that serve persons who are uninsured or underinsured. For a national health care system that promotes and encourages health, wellness, and well being for all people.
For all those who seek peace in the world and for ourselves, that we may bring about God's Kingdom here on earth. For our enemies, and for those who wish us harm.
Praise God for those in every generation in whom Christ has been honored.
