We invite you to visit the St. James Town Hall lobby to view United States Marine Corps memorabilia on display.
The memorabilia includes a number of items on loan from St. James resident Don Kling, that were obtained by his father, USMCR Corporal Robert J. Kling, when participating in the assault on Okinawa on 1 April 1945. Displayed are a Arisaka Type 38 Japanese rifle, a Japanese Rising Sun flag, and a Japan WWII Naval Landing Cap.
Some of the other items on display include a Marine boot camp album, a Colt 1911 pistol used by Marines during WWII, the Korean War, and Viet Nam War, a M7 bayonet used by the Marines in Viet Nam, a M-1955 Flack Jacket, a M1 steel pot helmet, a mess kit, an ammo can and ammo pouch, and several Marine challenge coins.
We sincerely appreciate and thank the members of St. James American Legion Post 543 for their service to their country and for preparing the display.
