Worship & Adult Formation

Joy Comes in the Morning: Adult formation returns on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 9 a.m. in the Trinity Room. For four weeks, we will explore the spiritual experience of joy. Described as fruit of the Spirit by St. Paul, joy isn’t just happiness. Scripture suggests it is intimately connected to sorrow and suffering, perhaps even impossible without it. What does science, faith, and our own life experience tell us about joy and can we cultivate it?
Sept. 10-17: What does Scripture, specifically the Hebrew texts, say about joy? What is Easter or Resurrection joy?
Sept. 24-Oct. 1: What does science and society tell us about joy? What is the difference between joy and happiness? How do you practice or cultivate joy?

This Sunday, we change our service music to A Community Mass by Richard Proulx. This setting of mass music has been in our rotation for years, and we are looking forward to singing this through the end of the season of Pentecost. You are most likely already familiar with the Sanctus, S125. ("S" stand for "Service Music" which is in the front section of the blue 1982 Hymnal.) As always, if you would like help in singing this setting, please contact Director of Music/Organist Brad Gee for a one-on-one coaching!
Summer Worship Feedback Form. For the next week, we will continue to collect responses to our summer worship experiences and will use that information as we discern worship for the remainder of 2023 and into 2024. You can find a paper form in the narthex or fill it out online.
Join us on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 9 a.m. in Stillwell Hall at our Newcomer Café for light refreshments, coffee and fun fellowship with other newcomers and long-time members. Whether you are new to the area, looking for a spiritual home or started attending months ago, we pray you have been blessed by the worship and that our parish will continue to be a blessing to you. If you have children, we would love to have them join us! Please RSVP to Diane Jacober at jacoberd@bellsouth.net or call the church office at 828-693-7458.
|
