Our T-Coil loop is on again to assist compatible hearing aids! We thank everyone for their patience.
As cold and flu season approaches (as well as a popular time of year for travel), please be aware that St. James still has (lots of) masks available in the narthex should you need one for any reason. Some still prefer to wear masks in group settings before big vacations to avoid illness of any kind. So if you see someone wearing one, continue to greet them with the love of Christ, not with suspicion of the plague! And in all seriousness, if you are feeling unwell, we invite you to join us online via our livestream on Facebook or YouTube. Sharing is caring, except when it's the sniffles! Should you need a pastoral visit or assistance in time of serious illness, please contact David+ or the office.
|
Additional parking options on Sundays: We want to ensure those with mobility needs, those with small children, and our visitors can find parking in St. James lots. This is a faithful gesture of Christian hospitality so please consider parking at one of these locations:
- Bruce Drysdale Elementary parking lot, adjacent to St. James on Bearcat Blvd (about 25 spots)
- The Staff Parking lot, behind the Memorial Garden
- On-street parking around St. James

We are thrilled to welcome the Rev. Mark Jefferson, Ph.D., as our preacher this Sunday at the 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. services. Dr. Jefferson is a public theologian and CEO of Maleko Global Partners, a consulting firm that equips and empowers leaders, especially clergy. Prior to that, Dr. Jefferson taught homiletics at Virginia Theological Seminary, Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, and Candler School of Theology. While at VTS, Dr. Jefferson took up the call to preach 200 sermons in a year to mark the school's bicentennial, a remarkable feat, and recently was the keynote at our diocesan clergy retreat.
We also welcome you to our Fourth Saturday service at 5 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 23 in the small, intimate space of the Chapel, with the Rev. David Henson preaching. Please make plans to join us for one of our many worship opportunities this weekend!

Joy Comes in the Morning: Adult formation continues this Sunday at 9 a.m. in the Trinity Room. For the next two weeks, we will explore the spiritual experience of joy. Described as fruit of the Spirit by St. Paul, joy isn’t just happiness. Scripture suggests it is intimately connected to sorrow and suffering, perhaps even impossible without it. What does science, faith, and our own life experience tell us about joy and can we cultivate it?
Sept. 24-Oct. 1: What does science and society tell us about joy? What is the difference between joy and happiness? How do you practice or cultivate joy?

Introducing Passage Meditation, a new workshop offered every Thursday beginning Sept. 28 at 5:30 p.m. in the St. Mary's Room.
