In person TOMORROW from 11:00am-12:30pm for its last session.

This year during Black History Month, members of St. John’s Cathedral will be reading All the White Friends I Couldn’t Keep written by award winning singer, songwriter and author, Andre Henry. We are committed to creating a safe space to read this challenging book together. It’s the story of Andre Henry’s personal journey and decisions about ethnic discrimination (racism is an invented term).

At St. John's; TOMORROW!

“Every Child’s Life is Sacred,” An Interfaith Concert for Humanity with The Yuval Ron Intercultural Ensemble. The product of months of deep listening to our colleagues in and from the Holy Land, this event will honor the life of every child. There is no more important message we can send right now than to celebrate the sanctity of our children. The children of Israel and Palestine have been killed and kidnapped, traumatized and terrorized. This program of exquisite prayer and story with Oscar-winning composer Yuval Ron and his international ensemble will be an inspiring, unifying, and deeply spiritual event in honor of children and their families. The concert will include empowering sacred and mystical music and movement for heart and soul. The event is free to the community. Free valet parking.

He’s also the inaugural recipient of the “Reach Out and Touch Award” in honor of his late mentor and legendary singer-songwriter Nick Ashford from The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Foundation. His work has been featured in The Nation, The New Yorker, New York’s Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., and Super Bowl LVI.

Shrove Tuesday will take place on February 13th and Ash Wednesday (the first of the forty days of Lent, named for the custom of placing blessed ashes on the foreheads of worshipers as a sign of penitence and a reminder of mortality) on February 14th. More details are being prepared.

A Message from Bob Bowen...

A series of workshops is planned for persons of the Saint John’s community who are interested in the relationship between creativity and religion…primarily at our Cathedral. Depending on the agreed upon specific focus of those persons who come to the first session, we will construct a plan which will include: objectives, frequency of meeting and desired outcomes.

Here is an overview which might be helpful to interested parishioners:

“God is a process at work in the universe, within and among us, that makes for the fulfillment of our human potential.” The author is Rabbi Dennis C. Sasso. We will apply this and other

viewpoints to our creative adventure.

If you are interested, please contact the Cathedral office. I look forward to our initial gathering and beyond.
