March 20, 2020
Dear Parishioners,

What a week it has been! Thank you for being patient with us as we navigate daily changes not only in our Catholic church but in our world. Now more than ever we need to turn to prayer and rely on our faith in the Lord.

As our parish family perseveres through these difficult days, we are very much aware of the fact that many of your families are likely to experience uncertainty about employment. Please know that I am praying fervently for all those who find themselves in such a situation.

Your first obligation is always to ensure the health and security of your own household. We ask you to prayerfully attend to this primary duty, but then to also remember how much St. John’s relies upon your generosity, especially at a time like this when we are not going to be gathering in church.

For those who are able: we are grateful for your continued stewardship, particularly in the form of electronic giving .

For those whose capacity to give might be reduced: we are grateful for your continued support in whatever measure you determine is best for you.

May the God who did not hesitate to offer his only-begotten Son, continue to help us to be generous, knowing that our reward from Him will be eternal!

Fr. Ben Little
**please note the next daily update will not come until Monday, March 23 unless urgent communication is needed.
We are blessed that our priests will continue to pray the Mass and offerings (intentions) will be made according to the schedule in place. As a rule, Pastors must continue to offer Mass for the people (Missa pro populo) each Sunday and on a Holy Day of Obligation. Fr. Ben will offer this Mass for the parishioners of St. John’s and St. Michael on Sundays and Holy Days.

Intentions for the other two Masses on Sunday, those who requested and paid a stipend for those Masses, will be contacted. With their permission, those offerings will be combined or their intentions will be moved to another future date.  Fr. Michael will pray those Masses. Daily Mass offerings (including those offered for scheduled school Masses) will continue to be as scheduled.
  • The parish office IS CLOSED, effective Friday, March 20. Door #11 is open daily from 7AM-6PM to receive deliveries and allow entrance for those wishing to pray in church with the Blessed Sacrament. *messages will be checked but email communication will be answered quickest. Come Holy Spirit,
fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit
and they shall be created.
And You shall renew the face of the earth.
O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit,
did instruct the hearts of the faithful,
grant that by the same Holy Spirit
we may be truly wise and ever enjoy His consolations,
Through Christ Our Lord.
