Dear Friends of St. John's:
It is difficult to convey just how much all of your kind words and expressions of caring concern for my husband George and I,
through these many months,
have meant and have supported my family and me.
Thank you for all of your cards, calls, offers of help, and your prayers.  The love of our congregation gave us strength through this difficult time.
We miss our George so much, but we know he is restored again, at peace and already in that heavenly choir.  Praise be unto God.
May God bless all our church family.
Love, Millie Funk and family

June 7, 2018
As I do each year around this time, I'm at Sandy Cove Ministries in North East, MD for a 2-day Mini-Sabbatical with other ministry leaders, plus I've added one additional day as a "personal retreat". Besides rest and connecting with God, I try to do some sermon planning for the next year while I'm here. One of the blessings of this time away is that I get to meet other clergy and ministry leaders and hear about their walk with God.
This morning at breakfast, I had a delightful conversation with someone who told me they also were here last year around this time, and at that time, they were struggling to understand God's direction for their life, and before they left they very distinctly heard God say, "shield-bearer". And so when they got home, they did some extensive research on what this might mean but it still made very little sense.
However, in not too long of a period of time, he said he found himself dealing with a very troubling and conflictive situation. That's when he realized what a shield-bearer was. He said that although the trouble is still not over, God has called him to pray, to support, and to be a mentor to someone who is in trouble. It has taken most of his time and energy over the past year, but he feels good knowing that God is using him, and so he's back here again hoping to hear God's voice once more.
It's always good to hear stories of faith from others who are on the journey. Whether you are the one who is telling the story, or you are the one who is listening to the story, you both gain. I hope you have people to share faith stories with. If you don't, you can find them at church - just join a small group or a Bible study. It will grow your faith and change your life.

Have you ever wondered who makes the tags on the Christmas Angel Tree in the Narthex each year?  It is the same women who organize Souper Bowl Sundays, Ingathering, and the Election Day Bake Sale.  They are the women of Salome Circle.  Their leader is Kathy Keppol.  Salome Circle meets in the evening the third Wednesday of each month.  Let Kathy Keppol know if you would like to join them.  215-357-7404.
Naomi Circle will be collecting sheets during the month of June.  Red Bird has requested twin sheets for their Christmas boxes this year.  They mentioned sheets with a juvenile pattern on them would be great.  They are also asking for solid colors.  There will be containers placed throughout the church for our donations.  Thanks for your support.  Any questions, please call Linda Barr, 215-773-9865, or Carol Campbell, 215-364-0942.

Neshaminy Manor Worship Service - June 3, 2018

This past Sunday, St. John's was privileged to worship with residents of Neshaminy Manor.
As part of worship, our choir sang and led some old familiar hymns.  We were also blessed to serve Holy Communion to the residents.  What a wonderful time of praise and worship!
Wednesdays from 4:30-6pm.
Our prayer team offers prayer to those who for various reasons don't feel that they can come to church but do realize their need for prayer.
