GIVING

While you're away this summer, the Missions and ministry of the church need to keep working. Electronic giving, text giving or even one time lump sum giving are three ways you can give while enjoying the beach.
MOBILE GIVING
  • Just go to our website stjohnsivyland.com
  • Click on the donate now button and register.
Once you've registered, you can either make donations by debit or credit.

OR try
TEXT GIVING
All you have to do is text the amount you wish to give to 215-398-1617.
You will immediately receive a one-time registration link, then just follow the prompts to complete your donation!

It's quick and secure.
The same vendor that handles electronic giving for us, Vanco Services, has state of the art encryption, so you can rest easy that your transaction is 100% safe and confidenti
al.

If you have any questions about mobile or text giving,
email Lou Lescas at  [email protected]

KEYPAD ENTRY
We have installed a keypad for front door entry, emulating what many others churches and businesses have been doing over the last decade. Several church members have attended seminars extolling the needs of getting away from the idea of a wide open church during the day and night. In that time we have had several very minor yet revealing security issues that needed to be resolved.

In addition, there are probably several hundred keys that have been given out over the last 20 years, many of which were not returned. They could have been from members who died, left the church or moved. Also, often the church is left unlocked overnight an alarming number of days/year.

We feel that we have derived a good solution- a front door keypad for entry of those who lead groups and who need passage, and a complete rekeying of the building. This is all to ensure the safety and security of our church building 24/7, our staff during the day, and all of the groups who meet here, day and night.

For those people who will receive the keypad code, to enter the front center doors, just put the six digit number into the keypad and you'll hear a click- then, just open the door handle. The door will automatically lock behind you in several seconds. The doors can be set to stay unlocked too, as in Sunday worship. The keypad does not affect the automatic doors' performance. Also, you will still be able to enter the church from all of the doors on Sunday morning for worship.

The keypad code will be changed from time to time, as needed, again for security purposes. People who have church access will receive a new email when this occurs.

If anyone has any questions or concerns, please call me at
215 828 5528, or email me at [email protected].

Naomi Circle is collecting tabs from beverage cans for Ronald McDonald House.  You will find a container under the sign hanging on the UMW bulletin board. Please place them in a plastic bag and put it in the container. This is an ongoing collection, so keep bringing them in as you collect them.   Thank you.

Donations of non-perishable food for the Eastwick Food Pantry are always needed through-out the year.  Please place contributions in the shopping carts located in the narthex and fellowship hall lobby.

PASTOR'S REFLECTION
Mission and ministry comes in lots of different shapes and sizes. And now that it's August, we began talking about Fall & Winter at staff meeting this morning. I can't help but be excited about some of the opportunities we'll have as a church family this year.
First of all, it's been a few years since we've had an actual "church picnic" and this September, we hope to do just that - complete with pie baking contest, games, and activities for kids. Oh - and burgers and hot dogs too.
In the spirit of St. Francis, we'll once again be blessing the animals this Fall - watch for the date. And plan to bring your furry family members to church - we'd love to meet them and we'd especially love to pray God's blessing on them.
Then it will be "R.I.S.E." Sunday at the beginning of October - and yes, we can thank Bruce Springsteen once again for our theme song, so plan on practicing it in worship during the month of September! This year, we'll gather at 9 am for worship and then we'll spend the rest of the morning making pillow-case dresses for needy girls in Africa, we'll be packing 750 lunches and packaging at least a zillion utensils & napkins to be delivered to the Trenton Soup Kitchen, we'll be making "necessity kits" for homeless youth in Bucks Country, and of COURSE the Rise Against Hunger organization will be here to guide us once again in packaging another 13,000+ meals to be used for world-wide hunger relief. Mark your calendar!
Then on Sunday afternoon, October 14, St. John's will be participating in the Doylestown Crop Hunger Walk, sponsored by Church World Service. This is a mission activity that the whole family can participate in and we're excited to be a part of it this year.
And then there is a brand new and exciting opportunity to add to your Advent calendar this year. On Sunday evening, December 16, St. John's will be presenting our first (and perhaps annual) Drive-Thru Live Nativity, complete with all of the characters in the Christmas story, music, and yes, of course - the animals will be here too - we'll even have a camel with us. This wonderful and heartwarming event will take place around the perimeter of our parking lot, allowing cars to slowly drive through and experience the scenes of the Christmas story - St. John's gift to both our congregation and our surrounding community.
And these are just a FEW of the many opportunities in mission and ministry in the upcoming months. It will be an exciting time, and a faith-filled time. We can't wait to tell you more about the details and we especially can't wait to make a difference for Christ - with your help, of course. Watch for details!
