PASTOR'S REFLECTION
Just as it was getting dark last night, I happened to walk onto the back patio. And as soon as I did, without a second's hesitation, nine sets of deer eyes were focused on me. None one of them moved an inch - they were completely still - but all nine deer stood silently at attention. Even when Ollie started jumping on the fence and barking at them, they never lost their cool.
Well, I probably don't have to tell you how incredibly eerie it is to stand outside in the almost-dark and to feel nine sets of eyes staring you down. It might as well be human eyes! In fact, it felt SO intense and that I could only take it for a minute - I imagine that's what it must feel like to swim around in a fish bowl! So without even thinking too hard about it, I turned on my heels and flew back inside so I could discretely peek out the window and not feel so "exposed" lol.
Right about then, all nine deer, in unison, must have decided that the excitement was over and enough was enough - so they followed one another into the woods next door to the parsonage.
I guess I have a problem being stared at and being studied by multiple sets of eyes - deer eyes and very possibly human eyes, too.
It's kind of funny that just because we can't see God with our physical eyes, we rarely think about the fact that God knows us very intimately - God sees and God knows our every move. He is interested in every minute detail of our lives. And yet we rarely, if ever, realize how completely and totally God knows us. Perhaps if we could find a way to be reminded of that fact, we'd try much harder to be the kind of people we were created to be. Perhaps we'd ask God for advice a little more often. And maybe we'd think twice before doing or saying something that would fail to bring Him glory. Sometimes we just need a reason to stay on track, don't you think?

ADULT/FAMILY MINISTRY
THE HISTORY OF CHRISTIANITY (PART 2)
Tuesdays at 10 and 7 in Fellowship Hall
May 21 - June 11
Leader: Paul Henry

The History of Christianity (Part 2) exploring the phenomenal growth of the Church from its Jewish roots in Palestine to a worldwide religion will be explored. This past fall we looked at the early years of Christianity from the Resurrection of Jesus, to the de-criminalization of Christianity by the Roman Emperor Constantine in the early fourth century. During this 300-year period, Christianity grew from a handful of followers of Jesus of Nazareth in 33 A.D. to about 10% of the population of the Roman Empire. The History of Christianity will explore the time period of the fourth century to the Reformation, wherein the church grew to encompass all of Europe.

"The Hiding Place"
by: Corrie Ten Boom
with Elizabeth and John Sherrill

During WW II, in her quiet watchmaking shop, Corrie and her family risk their lives to hide Jews and others hunted by Nazis in a secret room,  a"hiding place".  Corrie and her family are betrayed and are sent to a notorious Nazi concentration camp to die.  This is her story of how faith, hope and love ultimately triumph over unthinkable evil.
All are welcome.
Leaders Barbara Schneider and Carol Campbell.
