PASTOR'S REFLECTION
It must have happened well over a year ago, although I never noticed. It was pointed out to me once when I was having my car serviced - "did you know you have a crack in your windshield?" "I do???" And it was true - there was a tiny crack just underneath the inspection stickers. "Well, what should I do about it?" "Well, it's small. It may just stay like that." Well, that sounded good to me, so I ignored it. Until last week, that is.
As soon as I got in the car Tuesday morning, there it was. All of the sudden, the year-old tiny little crack was no longer tiny or little. Suddenly, like magic, it had grown to be at least ten inches long. Then I noticed it was a few inches longer by later in the day. And on Wednesday morning, it had grown a few more inches. Yikes. How in the world did that happen?
I was instructed, via the insurance company app, to make an appointment with an autoglass repair company that comes to your house. And bright and early Monday morning, I received, via text, a photo of the technician along with a link so I could watch the repair truck driving to my house. And an hour later, I had a brand new windshield.
It's a strange thing, though, the way that a tiny little crack in the glass suddenly, and without any warning, became a large crack that continued to grow and grow, almost by the minute. And once it started to grow, there was no stopping it. The more I think about it, the more I realize how that process happens in other ways as well. Sometimes a person might do one good deed or one kind act - something small and insignificant. But somehow there's a ripple effect that continues to grow and expand and makes the world just a little bit nicer. And the same is true for those times when someone speaks an unkind word or acts in a negative way toward another - a ripple effect also grows and expands, but this time, the world becomes just a little more unsettling.
So there's my thought to ponder for the week. I hope you'll ponder it along with me.

                                          Blessings,
                                          Pastor Janice
