Sometimes there is a very simple solution to a problem that is perhaps SO simple that it has totally escaped you for your entire life.
Anyone who knows me well will tell you I don't eat cereal and milk for breakfast. And the reason is simple: the cereal gets soggy. From the time I was a child, I've pretty much refused to eat soggy cereal.
Well little did I know that I am not alone - and so maybe I'm not quite as strange as I thought I was! A friend, knowing my quirkiness about eating soggy food, bought me a gift - it's a special bowl that is specifically made for people like me. It has a "cereal" side and a "milk" side so you can easily dip your cereal into the milk spoonful by spoonful. It's called "Just Crunch," and it claims to be "the anti-soggy cereal bowl". WOW! I was so excited that went right out and bought myself some corn flakes, and guess what? It works!
So the lesson, of course, is that sometimes, we just have to open our eyes - often, there is a simple solution staring us right in the face.
Granted, my little cereal dilemma is rather trivial compared to some of the other problems we can run into. Sometimes we wear ourselves out trying to come up with remedies, and other times, we just give up completely (like I did - for a zillion years, lol!). But there is often a very simple solution to the more serious dilemmas of our daily lives, isn't there? Most of the time, the solution involves doing the one thing we tend to resist - giving our problems to God and then trusting that God has all the answers. Which he DOES.
And just in case you, too, hate soggy foods, you can easily buy your very own "Just Crunch" bowl from Amazon.com!
Looking forward to seeing you in worship this Sunday!
Pastor Janice

This week in Kids Church......
God is Everywhere...so we look for him around us.
It's fun to imagine being surrounded by something we love. And did you know that right now you're surrounded by God? The Bible is special because it's full of true stories about what God has done, and it shows us that God is all around us, even when we can't see him.

"When I Found You"
by: Catherine Ryan Hyde
What do I have to do to make you wash your hands of me? There's nothing you could do. I will never wash my hands of you. From the author of Pay It Forward comes a poignant tale of love, pain and trusting people to stay by your side in a world where leaving is easy.
We will meet on Tuesday, June 4, at 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM in the Church Parlor.
Leaders are Barbara Schneider and Carol Campbell.
All are welcome.
