St. John's Enews
May 20, 2016

Fr. Joe

Dear St. John's family,

I hope you're enjoying the beautiful May weather and less traffic on the road. Taking a deeper breath, going for longer walks and enjoying a leisurely meal with friends are great ways to spend some time in the days ahead. Be open to our Good Shepherd leading you beside still waters and green pastures that will wonderfully renew you, that you may be blessed and bless others.

In the spirit of blessing, I want to share with you that there are some St. John's families that are struggling financially.  Facing debilitating medical conditions and out of work, it's hard for them
to pay rent, buy food and keep up with bills.  They and I have sought
every financial avenue (Government, etc.) but sometimes to no avail.

To provide for their basic needs, I'm making an appeal for additional
financial gifts to the St. John's Benevolence Fund.  This will enable
me to assist our St. John's families who desperately need HELP NOW!
Please make a substantial donation at a church service or mail your
gift to us.

God Bless You!

Fr. Joe

CCO
Michael Thornhill serves the CCO as Assistant Director of Cross-Cultural Ministry.
A graduate of Slippery Rock University, Michael came on staff with the CCO in 2012 to reach out to students at Point Park University through a partnership with New City Church.
He now serves alongside Director of Cross-Cultural Ministry, Michael Chen, traveling to campuses and churches throughout the northeast.  He has this to say about his new work in the harvest field:
"Cross-cultural ministry is important to me because all of Scripture is cross cultural," says Michael. "Since Adam and Eve in Genesis, the Bible gives us innumerable, archived accounts of cross-cultural experiences for us to learn from. I want to cultivate a community of wounded healers, teaching learners, and authentic believers who seek to work for unity in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."
