Message from Lois Sauer, Sr. Warden
Dear Beloved Folks of St. John’s,

As Mo. Sarah, the staff, and yours truly continue to take turns sharing our reflections with you each week, I am delighted to write following our first in-person worship services last week. Those three services on Sept 6 and 10 were a beautiful milestone moment for us as a parish as we begin to carefully regather.

Sun, October 4th from 2-3 pm
St John's Parking Lot

In the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, we gather each year to bless and celebrate our beloved pets and all animals who are such a varied and wonderful part of God’s Creation. All pets are welcome and ashes may also be blessed if you bring them.
We are compiling pictures for a slide show to honor our beloved pets—living or departed. Email your pet pictures (please include names) to Barbara in our church office barbara@stjohnswf.com and we will highlight your pets in our Weekly News that weekend!

ONE Wake Founding Assembly
Tuesday, October 13, 7:00 - 9:00 PM

For the last two+ years several leaders from St. John's have invested their time and talent to build ONE Wake: an exciting new broad-based social justice organization composed of 41 religious and non-profit organizations across Wake County (and more are joining each month).

During our Founding Assembly, ONE Wake will:

(1) Announce the results of our ambitious non-partisan effort to contact over 20,000 eligible voters for voter registration and assistance with absentee ballots;

(2) Unveil our social justice action agenda on affordable housing, education, and jobs created with the input of over 3,300 Wake County residents;

(3) Invite candidates from every party, elected officials, and corporate leaders to work with ONE Wake and St. John's to address these important issues;

(4) Kick off a non-partisan Get-Out-The-Vote Campaign to ensure that every registered voter in our community votes in the upcoming election.
Join St. John's CROP Walk Team Today!

This year our team will make history by walking in different ways to support local and international hunger ministries.

St. John's members will have three options for walking:

1. Join Mo. Sarah+ and a group of 25 walkers at St. John's for a shorter walk around our parking lot on Sun, Sept 27th at 4 PM -- masks required, social distancing and signing in for tracing information. Complete these two steps to participate: 1) Let us know you are coming via this Sign Up; AND 2) Register/donate on our St. John's CROP Walk Team Page

2. Walking anytime, any place with your family or friends! Only registration is required: St. John's CROP Walk Team Page. Post pictures on our Team Page when you're done!

3. Join others from St. John's for a longer walk (1 - 3 mile options) at Joyner Park on Saturday 9/26 at 9:30 AM -- Complete these two steps to participate: 1) Let us know you're coming via the CROP Walk Sign Up Genius; AND, 2) Register/donate at St. John's CROP Walk Team Page

While this will look different from past CROP Walks, we remain committed to supporting local hunger ministries and "Walking in Love" together. Please contact Joy Shillingsburg, Youth & Outreach Director with any questions: 919-229-9015 / youth@stjohnswf.com. Thank you to Helen Holt and Kenille Baumgardner for their organizing efforts!!
