It's that time of the year again! On Monday and Tuesday December 3rd & 4th, our school gym will magically transform from a gymnasium into the North Pole!
Santa's St John's volunteer elves have been busy shopping over the past year building up the inventory that will soon stock the shelves of this years Secret Santa Shoppe. If
you are new to our school, here is how this works.
This is not a fundraiser
! The Secret Santa Shoppe is simply a service that the PTO offers to our students in order to give them the opportunity to do some Christmas shopping for their family/friends/pet/etc. all on their own!
Each student will have the opportunity to go to the Shoppe on Monday and the majority of the purchases are made that day. Anyone who brings spending money on Tuesday will have a second opportunity to go back to the Shoppe during their classes assigned time. We are excited to announce that we will also be offering a Gift Card Tree this year! We will have a small selection of gift cards in either $5 or $10 values available for purchase. The cards will be purchased through our school's TRIP program so they will only be available at the Secret Santa Shoppe on Monday Dec 3rd. Any cards purchased on Monday will be gift wrapped and delivered to the purchaser on Friday, Dec 7th.
Secret Santa Envelopes will be sent home with all of the kids later this week. This envelope will let you notate who the kids will be shopping for as well what their budget is. Please send your child's shopping money to school next Monday, Dec 3rd in this envelope. All of the merchandise is prices from $1 - $10 per item and we are able to accept cash or personal checks (made out to St John's Lutheran School PTO). If there is change, it will be returned in the same envelope.
The teachers have signed their class up for the 1/2 hour time slot both days to go shopping. Some of our older students have been recruited to assist our younger kiddo's as they shop and make their selections. That said, we do still need some adult volunteer elves. We will especially need help when the large classes of preschoolers are shopping!
This really is a fun couple of days. Seeing the smiles on the kids faces as they find the "perfect gift" is a delight to watch so if your schedule allows, please consider volunteering for as many shifts as you can!
