REQUEST FOR PRAYERS...
The entire St. John the Baptist community extends our heartfelt prayers to
Mrs. T and her family who suffered the loss of her mother in the Philippines late last week.  We pray that Mrs. T feels the power of our St. John the Baptist School family embracing her during this time of unimaginable loss.  WE LOVE YOU MRS. T ❤ and we pray you are granted Peace, just as your mother is now experiencing with our Lord in heaven:

Jesus, You told Your followers, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe in Me as well. . . . Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives" (John 14:1, 27, NIV). I need Your peace. I need "the peace of God, which transcends all understanding" to guard my heart and mind (Philippians 4:7, NIV). I need peaceful sleep. I ask for peaceful thoughts and emotions to rule my days and nights. Amen
PLANS FOR THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR
BACK TO SCHOOL OPENING UPDATE

While we have a Fully Developed DRAFT PLAN that is currently being reviewed by the Site Safety Committee and Faculty/Staff, we are keenly aware of what our public school district plans are for their Fall reopening.  Given these plans, we are waiting on further information from our Diocese of Oakland Catholic School Department and will deliver any information to you with regard to our school opening platform in a timely manner.  We wish we had all the answers to support you with the many questions you have at this time, but we simply do not know what parameters the Diocese will announce to us in the next few days.  However, here's what we know for sure:
  • The FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL WILL BE AUGUST 20TH
  • The Diocese of Oakland Catholic Schools will make all decisions with the health/safety of all in mind FIRST and FOREMOST
  • We DO have DRAFT alternative plan schedules for partial day attendance to limit (even further) class sizes and we will certainly share when/if this plan is the correct direction we need to move forward with given health and safety guidelines.
  • If we do have physical learning attendance, we WILL have a livestream platform learning platform available as well for families that do decide to keep their child/ren at home.
  • We all must remain flexible and patient during this time.
  • We are STRONGER TOGETHER..
  • GOD IS GOOD - AMEN
OUR GOFUNDME CAMPAIGN FOR 2020-2021 - LET'S KEEP IT GOING!

OUR GOFUNDME 2020-2021 CAMPAIGN HAS BEGUN!

TALKING TO CHILDREN ABOUT RACE & RACISM
Join fellow parents, educators and child development and trauma experts for an important conversation about how you can talk with young children about racial injustice and violence against Black people. This overview addresses questions such as: How can parents of Black children continue to instill confidence and pride in young kids while also explaining the racial inequity and barriers that continue today? And, how can parents of non-Black children help young kids understand their role in confronting anti-Black racism? The forum will share tips and resources that will help you continue to have these meaningful conversations now and into the future. This event is available to view and share shortly after on the PBS KIDS for Parents YouTube channel:   PBS Talking to Your Young Children About Race & Racism

NEW FAMILY REFERRAL PROGRAM
St. John the Baptist School believes that the best referral to our school community is word of mouth and we are extremely appreciative of families who tell their local community about their positive experiences at the school.

St. John the Baptist School is once again excited to be able provide a referral incentive to current school families to attract new families.  To show our appreciation, we will offer a $500 incentive to any family that refers the school to another family, who in turn, enroll their child/ren at St. John the Baptist School.

REFERRAL GUIDELINES:

- The new student family must complete the name of the family or organization that referred them on the New Family Referral Form by September 4, 2020.
- Only one $500 referral incentive applies to each new family (not per student).
- In order for referring parent(s)/guardian(s) to receive a referral payment or tuition credit, the referred families must attend St. John the Baptist School through the end of May, 2021.
- Referral credits or payments are distributed in May, 2020. We provide referral tuition credits for existing parents that refer new families.
- If a family enters St. John the Baptist School with more than one family referring them, the referral amount is split between the referring parties.

Thank you for your support of our program and Catholic education!
