County Details $820 Million Infrastructure Program in January 20 Update

St. Johns County Administrator Joy Andrews presented a comprehensive Critical Infrastructure Update to the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners at its regular meeting on Jan. 20, outlining completed Capital Improvement Projects (CIPs) in 2025 and a forward-looking infrastructure program for 2026 that reflects both scale and fiscal discipline. The presentation featured a video produced by the Office of Public Affairs that highlights many of these vital projects.

St. Johns County Tactical Training Facility Earns Regional Award for Excellence in Public Safety

St. Johns County has received a Regional Award of Excellence in Public Safety from the Northeast Florida Regional Council for the design and construction of the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Training Facility. The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office produced a video to highlight this important project.

County Fire Rescue Dedicates Fallen Firefighter Memorial

On Jan. 9, St. Johns County Fire Rescue dedicated a permanent Fallen Firefighter Memorial honoring firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty and recognizing the courage, sacrifice, and commitment that define the profession. The ceremony also included the dedication of the department’s 9/11 Memorial, symbolized by a tree planted at the site to commemorate the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and the sacrifices of first responders. The Office of Public Affairs produced a video to honor this important day.

Historic Day of Celebration Marks Homecoming, Health, and Hope in West Augustine

On Friday, January 23, 2026, St. Johns County and the West Augustine community marked a historic day of celebration recognizing legacy, progress, and long-term investment in one of the County’s most historically significant communities.



The day included the official recognition of Florida Memorial University as a partner in the Florida Museum of Black History project, along with the ribbon-cutting of the West Augustine Health and Wellness Center. Together, the milestones reflected a shared commitment to honoring history while advancing health, opportunity, and equity for future generations.

County Seeks Public Input on Habitat Conservation Plan

St. Johns County is inviting residents and visitors to share their input through a public survey as part of the County’s Habitat Conservation Plan renewal process. The survey will be open from January 14 through February 14, 2026.


The Habitat Conservation Plan helps protect federally listed endangered species, including nesting sea turtles and native beach mice, while also allowing for public use and enjoyment of St. Johns County beaches. Public feedback will help guide the County in evaluating potential updates or improvements to the Habitat Conservation Plan and related beach management practices.

St. Johns County launched Inside SJC Episode 10: Where Does County News Come From? Inside SJC Public Affairs. This episode gives viewers a look inside the SJC Office of Public Affairs as they collaborate across county departments to produce stories that inform and engage the community. From hosting events and special meetings, crafting news releases, producing videos, and managing social media, and the website, Public Affairs is committed to keeping residents informed

County Celebrates Renovation of North Beach Park with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

On January 9, 2026, St. Johns County celebrated the total overhaul of North Beach Park (3721 Coastal Highway, St. Augustine) with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Office of Public Affairs produced a video to commemorate the event.


The renovation added a new restroom building, a new changing area, a new playground with a shade cover, expanded and improved parking (20 more spaces) with a new one-way wraparound layout, and an upgraded walking trail around an open green space that was preserved at the rear of the park.

St. Johns County Golf Club Staff Wins Awards for Contributions to Golfing in North Florida

St. Johns Golf Club Director Wes Tucker and Assistant Golf Professional Bea Mauricio have both been honored by the North Florida PGA (NFPGA) with 2026 Section and Chapter awards for their contributions to the sport. The Office of Public Affairs has produced a video to celebrate their accomplishments


2026 marks the second year in a row that Tucker and Mauricio have been recognized by the NFPGA for their work.
