County Issues an Update on World Golf Village

St. Johns County is seeking proposals for the redevelopment of the World Golf Village Hall of Fame through a Request for Proposals which was advertised on June 18. The RFP will be conducted in two phases with the selection for the shortlist and potential award being made by the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners. 

County Honors Inaugural Graduating Class of SJC 101 Citizens Academy

The St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners recognized the 23 graduates of the inaugural SJC 101 Citizens Academy during its regular meeting on June 3. The Office of Public Affairs also produced a highlight video celebrating the inaugural class.

County Celebrates Internationally Recognized Muralist

On May 30, 2025, St. Johns County welcomed internationally recognized Muralist Kelsey Montague to the community of Hastings for the unveiling of a mural for the Hastings Main Street and the Hastings Bike Trail. The Office of Public Affairs produced a video to capture the celebration.

County Launches Episode 3 in Their New Inside SJC Video Series Giving A Behind-The-Scenes Look at the Emergency Operations Center

St. Johns County launched Inside SJC Episode 3: EOC After Dark, Emergency Operations Staff Around the Clock to raise awareness about the start of Hurricane Season (June 1 – November 30). This episode gives viewers the opportunity to go behind the scenes at the St. Johns County Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Find the Hurricane Preparedness Guide HERE.

County’s Risk Management Earns State-Wide Recognition

The St. Johns County Risk Management Department was recognized as the Safety and Risk Management Department of the Year by Preferred Governmental Insurance Trust, the County’s Workers’ Compensation insurer and one of the largest public entity insurers in Florida. In addition, Laura Dodd, Assistant Director of Risk Management and Benefits, was selected as the 2024/25 Risk Management Professional of the Year. The Office of Public Affairs produced a video to profile this tremendous accomplishment by the county’s Risk Management Department.

County Provides Capital Improvement Project Updates

The Crescent Beach ADA Walkover is Now Open - Following the purchase of the property that formerly housed the South Beach Grill, the County has expanded the parking lot and completed an ADA-compliant beach walkover. Watch the video.


Marsh Creek Sewer Line Replacement Project Begins - St. Johns County is launching a proactive infrastructure improvement project in the Marsh Creek neighborhood within the Sawgrass community, aiming to replace a section of aging ductile iron sewer pipe before it causes significant disruption. Hastings Water Treatment Plant Upgrades Underway - St. Johns County is making major strides in supporting the revitalization of Hastings through a series of improvements to the community’s water infrastructure. Watch the video.

County Earns 2025 Urban Deal of the Year from the Florida Economic Development Council

The Florida Economic Development Council awarded St. Johns County the 2025 Urban Deal of the Year at this month’s FEDC IGNITE Conference. The project received $5.8 million in incentive support from St. Johns County and will result in nearly 400 new jobs with an average wage rate of 125% of the County average. In February 2024, St. Johns County announced the reinvestment package.

County Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for Silverleaf Sportsplex and Shearwater Community Park and Library

On June 20, St. Johns County officials and staff held a groundbreaking ceremony next to Trout Creek Academy to celebrate the start of work on two projects: Silverleaf Sportsplex and the Shearwater Community Park and Library. The Office of Public Affairs produced a video to commemorate the event. The sites represent two of the four new regional parks envisioned in the County’s $123 million regional park plan, a major step toward meeting the need for increased recreation space to service St. Johns County’s growing population.
