County Adopts $1.8 Billion Fiscal Year 2026 Budget with Historic Investments, Property Tax Reduction, and Public Safety Expansion

The St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved a $1.8 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2026, marking the County’s first property tax reduction since FY2021. Effective Oct. 1, 2025, the budget allocates $383 million from property tax revenue while making historic investments in public safety, infrastructure, parks, and libraries.

County Marks Historic Step Toward Being the Home of the Florida Black History Museum

St. Johns County hosted a historic celebration on Sept. 18 to mark the State of Florida’s $1 million appropriation for the planning and design of the Florida Black History Museum in West Augustine. The event honored the collective efforts of State and County leaders, community members, and advocates who worked tirelessly to make the project a reality. The St. Johns County Office of Public Affairs produced a video to capture this historic moment.

County Launches Episode 6 in The Inside SJC Video Series

St. Johns County launched Inside SJC Episode 6: Storm Debris Cleanup, Your Insider Guide to Quick and Safe Disposal.  This episode gives viewers an inside look at the St. Johns County Solid Waste Division guidelines and storm debris collection process. Following these guidelines and ensuring debris is separated and placed at the curb correctly helps protect people and the environment. It also streamlines the collection process and helps crews restore normalcy to the community. At the peak of hurricane season, it’s not only important to be prepared for a storm, but to also know how to navigate the aftermath. County Provides Capital Improvement Project Updates

Traffic Signal at U.S. 1 and Pine Island Road Fully Operational - A new traffic signal and intersection improvements, including additional turning lanes, at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Pine Island Road are now operational. Read more.


County Advances Manhole Rehabilitation Program to Protect Utilities Infrastructure - St. Johns County is making significant progress on its Manhole Rehabilitation Program, an ongoing capital improvement effort to preserve sewer infrastructure, extend the lifespan of utility systems, and protect water resources. Read more.

County Enhances Road Safety Through Raised Pavement Markers Replacement Program - St. Johns County is advancing its Raised Pavement Markers (RPMs) Replacement Program, an initiative designed to improve roadway safety and visibility for motorists, particularly during nighttime driving and adverse weather conditions. Fragments of Historic Shipwreck Found on Matanzas Beach

St. Johns County Beach Services teamed up with the St. Augustine Lighthouse Archaeological Maritime Program (LAMP) on Aug. 26 to preserve two fragments of a historic shipwreck spotted by County staff on Matanzas Beach. The Office of Public Affairs produced a video to highlight this collaboration.

World Champion Sets New Record at County Disc Golf Course

A major figure in disc golf, six-time world champion Paul McBeth, set a record at St. Johns County’s Moccasin Creek Disc Golf Course during his very first visit in August.


McBeth posted a video to his YouTube channel on Aug. 17, recording his time at Moccasin Creek.

County Public Library System Unveils Newly Wrapped Bookmobiles

The St. Johns County Public Library System has introduced a fresh new look for its bookmobiles, designed to inspire imagination and connect residents across the county. The vehicles now feature bright, colorful graphics that reflect the library system’s vibrant branding and showcase its commitment to making library resources accessible for all ages. The Office of Public Affairs produced a video to highlight the stunning new look of the bookmobiles.

County Team Earns Top GIS Honor for Innovative Storymap

St. Johns County’s Stephanie Kurtz and Olivia Testasecca received top honors at the 18th Annual Central Florida Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Workshop in Daytona Beach on Sept. 9. The pair’s ArcGIS Storymap, “Cleaning Up Chaos: ArcGIS Powers St. Johns County Solid Waste Pickup Recovery,” earned the Storymap App Gallery Contest award for outstanding cartographic practice. The Office of Public Affairs produced a video to commemorate the achievement.
