County Launches Episode 5 in The Inside SJC Video Series

St. Johns County launched Inside SJC Episode 5: Notifying Residents Using Alert St. Johns.  This episode gives viewers the opportunity to learn how the county can notify residents in real-time about possible threats to public safety using Alert St. Johns. Anything from severe weather, unexpected road closures, water advisories, missing persons, or evacuations; this emergency notification system allows county staff and officials to provide critical information by whatever method you specify (home phone, mobile device, email, text, etc.). Board of County Commissioners Address E-Bike Safety

On Aug. 5, the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners passed a resolution promoting safety for operators of e-bikes, e-scooters, and other electronic motorized devices; encouraging safe usage practices, education, and enforcement efforts. The County, St. Johns Sheriff’s Office, and St. Johns School District have formed an alliance to partner on public education and enforcement efforts with the community.

County Celebrates Start of SR 16 and International Golf Parkway Project

On Aug. 25, St. Johns County officials and staff held a groundbreaking ceremony at the intersection of State Road 16 and International Golf Parkway to celebrate the start of improvements to the intersection. The Office of Public Affairs produced a video to commemorate the event. The $25 million SR 16-IGP Improvements Project, led by St. Johns County Public Works, will expand SR 16 from two lanes to four, add sidewalks between IGP and County Road 2209, install a new drainage system, and include a traffic signal.

County Celebrates Completion of Home Rehabilitation for Highly Decorated U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam Veteran

Sgt. Roy Wilbur, a highly decorated U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam War veteran, has returned to his rehabilitated St. Augustine home of over 40 years with new ADA accessibility, running water, and air conditioning thanks to St. Johns County and volunteers and donations through Operation Lifeline Inc. Sgt. Wilbur received the Bronze Star for heroic achievement and was wounded multiple times, earning two Purple Hearts. The Office of Public Affairs produced a video to capture the special homecoming ceremony.

County Launches Plans for Inaugural Legislative Day on February 5, 2026

On February 5, 2026, St. Johns County will descend upon the state Capitol in Tallahassee for the County’s inaugural “St. Johns County Legislative Day”, a premier advocacy event during the annual legislative session. During this one-day event, a united delegation of community leaders, business owners, and vested partners will provide an immersive showcase of St. Johns County.


St. Johns County Day will be an interactive experience featuring the history, great food, and exclusive entertainment unique to St. Johns County for the legislative body to touch and witness personally. This will set the stage for the County to advocate for policies and funding that strengthen the local economy, improve infrastructure, and enhance the quality of life in its growing community.

Solomon Calhoun 

Community Center Nears Completion of Field Upgrade

A major upgrade is underway at Solomon Calhoun Community Center, where St. Johns County is converting a frequently used grass field into a high-performance artificial turf field as part of a phased Capital Improvement Project. The enhancements aim to provide increased access to youth sports and reduce weather-related closures at the popular athletic complex. The Office of Public Affairs produced a video to capture the progress thus far.


Construction began in February and is on track to be completed in August. Progress is currently on schedule. A celebratory kickoff event is currently being planned for October of this year.

County Earns 2025 Florida Public Relations Association’s Pinnacle Award

The St. Johns County Office of Public Affairs was presented with a 2025 Silver Pinnacle Award for “Government Team of the Year” by the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) during the PR & Comms Summit held from Aug. 3 to 6 in Orlando, Florida.


FPRA’s Pinnacle Awards recognize government agencies for outstanding and ongoing strategic work in public relations and communications that profoundly and meaningfully impact the greater good of their community.

County Launches Major Electrical Upgrade at Marsh Landing Wastewater Plant

St. Johns County is moving forward with a critical infrastructure upgrade at the Marsh Landing Wastewater Treatment Plant as part of its Capital Improvement Plan, aiming to modernize aging electrical systems and ensure continued service reliability for decades to come. The Office of Public Affairs produced a video highlighting progress thus far.


The $2.3 million project will replace the plant’s outdated electrical equipment with a brand-new motor control center housed in a newly constructed electrical building. Originally built in the 1980s and partially upgraded in the 1990s, the Marsh Landing facility serves residents in the former Ponte Vedra Utility territory, which the County acquired in 2005.
