Please note that progress reports have gone home and are due back signed this morning. If you have concerns or questions about their grades, don't hesistate to ask the kids first. The teachers have not only gone over the grades with them, but the students have all corrected work and are the experts on their effort grades! Bear in mind, if a student has earned a poor grade on a test or assignment, teachers have taken the time to offer the students extra help and often a re-take. Sometimes the students do take this offer, other times they do not. Encourage them to do this whenever it is offered. After that, if you/they have more questions, teachers are more than happy to meet with them.

This is a perfect time to begin the process of self-advocacy and by encouraging them to email or ask the teachers for clarity and direction, they have agency in improving the communication and work. This kind of parental involvement is the most advantageous for them and is the hardest for the adults, I promise.
