Greetings from your Elementary School Alma Mater!

As an alum myself (St. Louis Class of '83), it is with great joy that I connect with the alumni community through our St. Louis Alumni Newsletter. Each one of us has memories of our days, teachers and friends at St. Louis School, and all of those memories combine to create 60 years of deep tradition and ongoing Christ-centered education here on Popkins Lane. It is our goal to connect with you and share the blessings of a united school community.

Dear St. Louis Alumni,

We just sent the St. Louis School students off for Summer break! I'm sure you can relate to that feeling of elation heading out to carpool on that final day, with thoughts of summer fun and no homework... things haven't changed! We ended our school year with a final assembly, celebrating the years of service from our pastor, Fr. Matthew Zuberbueler, who has been reassigned to St. Anthony's parish in Falls Church. It's never easy to say goodbye, especially to a pastor who has been so connected to and involved with the school, but we heed God's plan. We look forward to welcoming our new pastor, Fr. Keith O'Hare , who has been serving the diocese through his work as pastor for the diocesan mission parish in the Dominican Republic. We know that he will be a wonderful shepherd!

The Summer brings a change of pace to the school building, but not to the office! We are already busy with projects and preparations for the year ahead. The 2016-17 St. Louis Annual Fund Drive successfully raised enough funds to purchase 35 top-of-the line computers for all teacher and staff desks. In addition, we were able to purchase 3 new classroom carts of chromebooks (82 in total): for the upper hall, the lower hall and the middle school. One new interactive white board and 2 new interactive 70" digital panels will also be installed in classrooms. The PTO is purchasing new padding for the entire gymnasium (McClunn Hall) as well as a new digital scoreboard. The entire gym will be painted, to make the room ALMOST complete! We look towards an updated floor for the summer of 2018, with the help of our community.

Following the 60th Anniversary alumni events this past Fall, many alums shared their desire to have the chance to meet annually. We want to continue our connection with you, and provide opportunities for you to come back, share in the Mass, and visit the school. This year, our Annual Alumni Event will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017. Come for the 8:45am School Mass, followed by coffee and donuts in our school media center, where you can meet with other alumni, enjoying fellowship and tours from current students. If you are local or in town for that entire weekend, then plan to come to the Annual Hawks 5k Run and Fall Celebration on Saturday morning, October 21, 2017. Share in the joy of fitness, celebrate our Hawks spirit, and get some good Fall Festing in while you're at it! Look for more details to come.

If you are able to come to our alum gathering in October, I would love to see you and share St. Louis with you! If haven't been able to come back and visit yet, know that we are grateful for your interest in
your alma mater. We thank you for your support, near and far, and hope that you are able to drop by for a visit some time! Please pray for our students, our teachers and staff as we all work together to continue the tradition of academic excellence through a vibrant, thriving, faith-filled place to learn, grow and celebrate all God's blessings.
