City of St. Louis Building Energy Performance Standards
In May 2020, the City of St. Louis became the fourth jurisdiction in the U.S. and the first city in the Midwest to adopt a Building Energy Performance Standard ("BEPS"). The ordinance intends to meaningfully reduce energy use for buildings of 50,000 square feet and larger.

Building owners will have long compliance periods as well as substantial flexibility in how they choose to comply. Renew Missouri and Tower Grove Neighborhoods CDC recently organized a report that provides a summary and recommendations regarding what resources are available to provide financial assistance for subject building owners.
NAR Commercial Research & Resources
The 2020 Q4 Commercial Real Estate Quarterly Market Survey of REALTORS® reveals that the commercial real estate market continues to recover, but sales, leasing, and construction activity remain below year-ago levels. The recovery also remains uneven, with stronger investor interest for land, multifamily, and industrial properties than for hotels, retail, and office properties. REALTORS® are typically engaged in the small commercial market (properties valued at less than $2.5 million).
