Dear St. Louis Families,
We are coming to the end of our second week of Advent. As we lit the second candle during our morning assembly Monday, students were reminded that this candle symbolizes our faith. Today we celebrate the Memorial of St. Lucy. Her life is a beautiful reminder of the importance of faith---her extraordinary love and devotion to our Lord saved her ability to see. St. Lucy, whose name means light, was an instrument of Christ’s light for others. Let us look to St. Lucy’s example for bringing light to one another as we continue our Advent journey!
It's not Christmas yet, but the church was filled with exuberant voices singing “Joy to the World” and "Feliz Navidad" during our Lessons and Carols program on Tuesday evening! We were even joined with a special drum accompaniment by Mr. Gerke, which was an extra treat. It is a true blessing to see and hear our students share their gifts and talents especially during the Advent season! Thank you to Ms. Noone and Mrs. Flaaen for sharing their own gifts and passion for music with our students.
Next week is a full one - - we have an 11:30 dismissal on Friday, Dec. 20th, which is when Christmas Break begins! We look forward to our days with a tag day on Thursday, Preschool Christmas Programs Wednesday and Thursday, classroom parties, and final assignments and projects before the holidays. Many blessings as you continue your preparations at home, enjoying family and friends.
I am pleased to share that we have hired Ms. Katherine Karau and Mr. Matthew Ballard who will be team teaching Technology going forward. Ms. Karau has a strong background in computers and attended Catholic schools in the area for her K-12 education while Mr. Ballard is not only a St. Louis parent but also an experienced educator. Both are so excited to join us in our St. Louis mission to keep our students centered on Jesus as they grow in His love. Ms. Karau will be in the computer room Monday, Thursday, and Friday and Mr. Ballard will cover Tuesday and Wednesday.
Wishing you peace and hope this Advent Season,
Anne M. Dyke
