A Message from the Principal...
Signing Students Out Early on Fridays During Lent
Students will be attending Stations of the Cross on Fridays during Lent at 2:30pm. If you need to sign your child out early on a Friday, they must be picked up by 2:15pm. Office staff will not interrupt Stations of the Cross to get students.

Weekly Prayer Intentions
Each day our school community prays for the intentions of our families. This week the following families were included in our prayers: Northrop, Ntambwe, Ntumba, Ohlson, Olson, Orellana, Owens, Pacheco-Barela, Parker and Patente.

Attention 8th Grade Parents: Confirmation Retreat Info.
Mark your calendars! A mandatory Confirmation Retreat for all students preparing to receive the sacrament in the Fall will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12, 10:00am-3:00pm at St. Louis. More details to come.
If you already know you have a conflict with this date, Fr. O’Hare has asked for families to plan for their student to attend the youth retreat in Steubenville with St. Louis Youth Minister, Andrew Lane, who will be taking a group of students this summer.
Career Day is Coming!
On April 22, 2020, St. Louis School 4th-8th graders will all have an opportunity to learn about different careers. We are looking for parents who are passionate about their work and who are willing to talk with students about what they do, why they chose the field they did, and perhaps even how what they learned when they were young has helped them in their field. The time of day is still to be determined, but you will be committing 2-3 hours of your time. IF you’d like to come in, please fill out the google form and we’ll be in touch. Any questions can be directed to our School Counselor Mrs. Jennifer Cotnoir at jcotnoir@stlouisschool.org .
Middle School Study Skills Class
Middle School Study Skills class is coming to St. Louis School on Saturday, April 4. Please consider signing up your 6th-8th grader for a 3-hour hands-on study skills class with thestudypro . The students will be working in small groups. Enrollment is limited to the first 40 students. Please contact Mrs. Cotnoir at jcotnoir@stlouisschool.org with any questions.

Congratulations to the CYO Cheerleaders
On February 22nd, the Hawks Cheerleaders competed at the Winter Blast Competition at Bishop Ireton High School and they had a great day! Not only did they totally hit their routine, but they won the coveted Spirit Award for the team that exhibits the best sportsmanship toward other teams, has the best show of enthusiasm while competing, and is able to engage the crowd best during their cheer. All 34 members of the team worked so hard all year – since mid-September! Thanks to our coaches Judy Conti, Angela Moore, Jack Lowe and Marcy Grzadzinski for all their guidance and hard work with our kids.

Chess Tournament
The Sixth Annual Chess Tournament for students in Catholic schools in the Diocese of Arlington will be March 29, 2020 from 1-5PM at St. Rita School. On-site check-in begins at 12:30; play begins promptly at 1PM. The tournament is open to students in grades K-8 who are capable of winning a game by checkmate. Students will be grouped into three divisions based on their age (generally 6-8, 9-10, and 11-14, but this can change depending on numbers). All children will play four rounds of chess against opponents in their division. Individual and team trophies will be awarded in each division. Homeschooled children are welcome to attend and should choose their parish team or the team of a parish with which they are affiliated as their school team. The cost of registration is $20 through March 21; then the price goes up by $5. Registration costs are reduced by $5 if more than one child from the same family participates. Bishop Ireton Summer Camps
Bishop Ireton High School (201 Cambridge Rd., Alexandria, VA 22314) will be offering athletic and theater summer camps starting in June 2020. These dynamic and fun camps are taught by Bishop Ireton teachers, coaches and current students and are for students in 3rd grade through high school. Registration is open now. Space is limited. Please visit  www.bishopireton.org/summercamps  for more information and to register. Saint John Paul the Great Open House
All are invited to the Spring Open House at Saint John Paul the Great Catholic High School on Thursday, March 12 from 4 - 6pm! Meet the entire team of educators, get to know our coaches, tour the beautiful building, and learn more about John Paul’s successful programs and welcoming community. This event is especially designed for 4th-7th graders and their families as they begin considering what they are looking for in a high school experience! RSVP appreciated, but not necessary.
