St. Louis Catholic School Newsletter
SEPTEMBER 27, 2019
A Message from the Principal...
Dear St. Louis Families,
We are one full month into our school year, and it has been an incredible month! Students and teachers are fully engaged in learning, and processes are underway. We have spent the month making sure that all drills have been practiced (and will continue throughout the year!), and we continue to speak with students about safety, kindness and character. It is a blessing to work with each one of the students, knowing that we are all here to encourage one another to grow in Christ, to be the best version of themselves. We had a beautiful reminder of what that looks like in real life Monday at our regular assembly as we looked at the story of Sr. Rose Marie of the Queen of Angels, one of our Poor Clare sisters, who recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of her vows. I reminded the students that Sr. Rose Marie prays for us ,and we in turn do the same for her and her Poor Clares’ sisters - we are connected by virtue of our faith and our mission.

Annual Fund... As we finish up September and look into October, there are so many things to look forward to ... Bishop Burbidge’s visit, fall fieldtrips, Picture Day, Student council speeches and elections, Confirmation, the Hawks 5K and Hawks Day, the Book Fair, and always - the celebration of Mass. On Sunday, I will have the pleasure of thanking many of last year's Annual Fund benefactors at our wine and cheese event in the Media Center. I am so grateful to the many families who gave to our fund through financial donations, service to the school, and prayer. Your contributions beyond annual tuition and fees make it possible for us to enhance learning in even greater ways through capital projects such as the cafeteria renovation, the media center renovation, the gym renovation, and the installation of safer doors and locks. This year, we look to update and improve the playground and play space for our students.

Kitchen Stove Installation... We are also anticipating the long awaited and much anticipated kitchen stove project. The contractors have been given the go ahead from the diocese, and it is scheduled for the week of October 7-11 with much of the work being done after school hours. This means that unfortunately, hot lunch will not be served, and students will need to bring a bag lunch from home. Milk will be served, but no snacks or ice cream during this week as we don’t know how much of the kitchen we will be able to use. Families who purchased lunches for this week will be reimbursed. Please keep in mind that with any construction project that involves demolition and updates, anything can happen once the contractors get into the ceiling to install the new hood and fire suppression system. While we don’t anticipate the project taking longer than the week, we will continue to update you regarding the availability of hot lunch for the week following. I thank you for your ongoing support, understanding and patience as the project is completed.
Many blessings as we head into October and begin our focus on the virtue of studiousness!
