A Message from the Principal...
Dear St. Louis Families,

This morning, we crowned our Blessed Mother as the Queen of Heaven and Earth! It was a joy to see our 8 th grade procession and to witness their growth as they honored Mary. Tomorrow, our 2 nd graders will receive the Eucharist for the first time through the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. What a blessing it will be to share in their joy and celebrate with their families! 

A huge congratulations to our 6 th grade Battle of the Books team, who placed third overall for the entire diocese. Mrs. Krut and Mrs. Burns did a tremendous job working with the students throughout the year, and we are so proud of everyone’s efforts (see below for details). Next week, we will have fun with Mix and Match Tag Day, as our Student Council raises money for the Alice’s Kids Organization. Go to http://aliceskids.org/ to learn about all the good works that they are doing! Students can dress in a mixed up fashion (while following the comfy clothes policy) and bring in $2 for charity. I’m wondering what I should wear?!

I am so grateful to the many families who have participated in the annual fund this year, whether it be through financial donation, service or prayer. Every donation makes a difference, and your awareness of the school’s needs have contributed greatly to our success thus far. We are currently at 60% participation by current school families, and our goal is 100%! If you haven’t done so, please consider how you might be able to help before the year’s end. ( Annual Fund Pledge Card

Weekly Prayer Intentions
Each day our school community prays for the intentions of our families. This week the following families were included in our prayers: Cigliano, Coronado, Coyle, Cucinotta, Czapiewski, De La Rosa, Doering, Dyke, Farrell and Fiesel.

Congratulations to Our Battle of the Books Team!
Congratulations to our 6th grade Battle of the Books team! They faced extremely stiff competition from a record number of diocese schools-- 26 teams in all. These Hawks performed brilliantly: they tied for first place in their division and third place overall. Co-coaches Mrs. Burns and Mrs. Krut could not be more proud of their performance and all the hard work they put in over the course of the year!

Google Accounts of Students Not Returning 2019-20
As your student leaves St. Louis Catholic School, we wish them the best and won’t ever forget them. We will however, be forgetting their Google accounts! All students who are moving/graduating/leaving the school will have their St. Louis School Google account, and all its data, deleted on July 19, 2019. If your student has any documents, photos, data, etc. saved to their Google account (@stlouisschool.org) they must save it to a personal account, flashdrive, computer, or some alternative storage format. Anything that is not backed up elsewhere will be lost. Have a wonderful summer!
"Mix and Match" Tag Day - May 20th
On May 20th, the Student Council is sponsoring "Mix and Match" Tag Day. Wear clothing patterns that do not match (following the handbook comfy clothes policy) and bring in $2 to support the non-profit organization, Alice's Kids. See flyer for more information.
5th Grade Step Up Night - May 28th
The move up to middle school is an exciting one, and we want to help make the transition as smooth as possible for students and parents! Rising 6th graders, new middle school students and their parents are invited to the Middle School Step Up Night on Tuesday, May 28th. Please join us for an opening session by Mrs. McNutt, Mrs. Cucinotta, Mrs. Crooker and Mrs. Orr in the school cafeteria at 6:00pm. The 6th grade teachers will then take the students over for Q&A in the JPII building while the parents have additional info from the nurse and Mrs. McNutt. The night will end with time in the classrooms and hallway of the middle school.

Guardian Angel Program
The St. Louis School guardian angel program needs volunteers especially for incoming Kindergarten families! The guardian angel program pairs new, incoming families with existing families in the St. Louis community. It is intended to help welcome new families and make their transition to a new school easier and more comfortable. If you are interested in helping welcome new families to our school, please see the attached flyer for more information or click here to sign up.

Extracurricular Activities & CYO
Please Join Us in Celebrating Another Successful CYO Sports Season!
On Sunday, May 19th, please join the St. Louis CYO organizers and coaches at the 8:45 Mass to recognize CYO participants, followed by a reception and awards ceremony in McClunn Hall. Breakfast will be served. In addition to celebrating a great season, we will recognize/honor all retiring coaches, and present the inaugural Coach of the Year award. All family members invited. All children must be supervised by an adult. We look forward to celebrating with you!
Girls on the Run and Heart & Sole Coaches Needed
Girls on the Run and Heart and Sole are coming back to St. Louis in the fall…..and we need coaches!! Girls on the Run is for girls in 4th and 5th grades while Heart and Sole is for 6th-8th grade girls. The program is twice a week for ten weeks culminating in a 5K run November 23rd. We are looking for one or two coaches for each team. You would only be committing yourself for one afternoon a week with the season beginning the week of September 23rd. Training is provided. You don’t need to be a runner to be a coach. VIRTUS compliance is required. If you have any interest in coaching in the fall, please contact Mrs. Jennifer Cotnoir at jcotnoir@stlouisschool.org .

Thank You from Troop 1715
5th-grade Junior Girl Scout Troop 1715 would like to thank everyone who donated fleece for their bronze award project. The girls made 16 tied fleece blankets for cats and dogs at the Animal Welfare League in Alexandria. The girls dropped off the blankets on Monday, May 6 and even got to meet some of the shelter animals.
Summer Tutoring
Our Title 1 teacher, Mrs. Kathy Shuey, is offering tutoring for a fee during the summer weeks. She has been STL's Title I Reading and Math teacher for grades K-5 for the past 5 years. Summer is the time for all students to keep progressing & get extra support, so that they will be ready to go in the fall. Mrs. Shuey will offer sessions that include hands-on activities, games, and computer review for each of the sessions in math, reading, writing, spelling, comprehension, and letter formation for the youngest. She is available to come to your home or go to a central meeting point (library). Sessions are currently available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays for 45 minutes to an hour (depending on the age of the child).

  • July 9, 10, 11
  • July 16, 17, 18
  • July 23, 24, 25
  • July 30, 31, Aug 1
  • Some select times on Aug 13, 14, 15

Family Movie Night to Benefit Work Camp
Join St. Louis Youth Ministry for their last fundraiser before WorkCamp--a family move night! Come to McClunn Hall on Friday, May 24th to watch Meet the Robinsons (Disney, G-Rated, 1hr 35min) and enjoy some light refreshments and baked goods. Doors open at 6:30pm and the film will be begin at 7pm. We encourage you to bring blankets and pillows to sit on. It will be a suggested donation of $5/per person to see the movie! Please bring additional cash if you would like to purchase any of our refreshments or baked goods. 
Bishop Ireton STEM Day for 5th-7th Graders
Bishop Ireton High School has an awesome STEM Day planned for current 5th - 7th grade students on Saturday, June 1 from 9-12pm on the high school campus. The event is free to the student s and will be run by the computer and engineering teachers with assistance from s taff . Please click here  for more information. Space is limited to 40 students and the deadline to register is May 24. 
Baroody Summer Camp
St. Louis Parish is offering a Baroody Camps, Inc. Summer Camp Program for Young Christian Athletes! 
  • Dates and Times: Monday through Friday, 8:30am-3:00pm (with before and after care options starting at 8am and ending at 5pm) July 8-12 and July 15-19
  • Location: McClunn Hall
  • Ages: children ages 6-12
  • Price: $250 per student/week
