St. Louis Turns Teal for
Start by Believing Day
The YWCA Metro Saint Louis spearheaded a brand new Start by Believing campaign that turned the city teal! The Wheel at St. Louis Union Station, the Civil Courts Building, the Planetarium, and libraries through the county lit up in honor of Start by Believing Day.
St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson officially launched the campaign at an outdoor event that created a buzz of media coverage, spreading the message of Start by Believing throughout the city, county, and surrounding areas. Here’s one local TV news story:
The YWCA partnered with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and 17 area hospitals for the 2021 campaign. They are brainstorming additional partners for 2022.
The YWCA issued a call to action, inspiring more than 150 people to make the personal pledge to Start by Believing when someone discloses that they were sexually assaulted.
Congratulations to St. Louis for your Start by Believing efforts! You have made a real difference in the lives of sexual assault survivors and their loved ones.
