Dear Families,
What a wonderful 4th Annual Trunk or Treat! There were so many decorated trunks with a variety of themes, and I would like to thank Julia Lacouture, Silvia Macias, and helpers for making this annual event a success. We are so blessed that weather turned out great.
I would also like to thank 3B for preparing a wonderful Mass of the Solemnity of All Saints.
Open House and Admissions Season

SLE of the Month – October Reports
For the month of October, all PK-8 classrooms focused on the following SLEs: a St. Louise student is a life-long learner who exhibits enthusiasm for learning, including the ability to connect learning with life experiences. (SLE #2.3) St. Louise student is a community member who accepts leadership roles and collaborates with others. (SLE #4.3)
Below are examples of what St. Louise students have been doing in the classroom to focus on the SLEs of the Month for October:
Both first-grade classes enjoyed connecting their Friendzy lessons of encouraging and building each other up to their real-life experiences. Together the class produced a variety of ways that we can cheer our friends on and use encouraging words to support them. Some examples are ‘you are doing a good job’, ‘keep going, you’ve got this’, and ‘I believe in you’. They discussed what it feels like when they are cheered on and how that makes us want to do better.
The first-grade students had many opportunities to collaborate this month. They worked together in science to find hidden moths in tree trunks and then make and find their own camouflaged moths, they worked with their fourth-grade buddies to make Halloween haunted house glyphs, and also worked in teams to sort scenarios where students were either being honest or dishonest.
Both third-grade classes have been working hard on St. Louise SLE 2.3: A St. Louise student is a life-long learner who exhibits enthusiasm for learning, including the ability to connect learning with life experiences. They have been learning about famous landmarks and parks, and they wrote about one landmark or park that they have visited or knew about. They shared this knowledge with the class with a presentation.
Third graders also followed SLE 4.3: A St. Louise student is a community member who accepts leadership roles and collaborates with others. Both classes have been collaborating with a partner when they edit their partner’s writing. They also collaborate when they do Makerspace in library class as well as playing math games with a buddy or group.
In Mrs. Maloney’s science classes, students accept leadership roles and collaborate with others (SLE 4.3). The 7th graders became experts on NASA missions in an effort to share that information with the rest of the class. Students researched, organized, and presented the information to the class. The 8th grade class researched individual elements and created a visual display to share that information with the class. Students performed gallery walks and learned from each other.
Their enthusiasm for learning was seen while making periodic tables of different candies or exploring covalent and ionic bonds with gummy bears. Seventh grade students explored the formation of craters by using a moon like substance to create craters with different materials. These students connect this learning to objects they experience. (SLE 2.3)
SLE of the Month for November/December
A St. Louise student is a well-balanced individual who sets goals and implements steps to achieve them.
A St. Louise student is a community member who shows awareness of local, national, an international events.
St. Louise Parish School Auction
I look forward to our annual school auction this Saturday, November 4th, 2023 at Newcastle Golf Club in support of our parish school. I would like to thank all families for their generous donations to the St. Louise Parish School auction. It will be an exciting and fun event and thank you for supporting St. Louise Parish School.
November Conferences
You should have received an email yesterday asking for you to visit SignUpGenius to choose your preferred date and time for an upcoming Parent-Student-Teacher Conference. The conference dates are Monday, November 20th and Tuesday, November 21st. We require every family to conference with the teacher each November at a minimum. If you are out of town during the Thanksgiving Week conference days, we have one optional half day on Wednesday, November 15th, after our noon dismissal. If this is the only date you can make, please coordinate directly with your homeroom teacher. Thank you for partnering with your child's teacher!
