St. Lucia Distillers opens three new cellars

St. Lucia Distillers is being commended for its continued confidence in Saint Lucia’s economic development through the expansion of its facilities in the Roseau Valley. Over the past 18 months, the premier rum producer in the Eastern Caribbean, under strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols, built three new cellars with a capacity of storing 12,000 oak barrels.

Saint Lucia Tourism Authority shortlisted for prestigious award

The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority has been confirmed as a finalist in the Travel Industry Awards by TTG: Tourist Board of the Year. It is the only destination in the Caribbean to have been selected.

The Travel Industry Awards are run by TTG (Travel Trade Gazette), the UK’s leading industry media outlet. Barbados to Reopen on June 30 2021

The Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, on Saturday announced that her administration has put plans in place for the country to start reopening the country on June 30.

Speaking during a COVID-19 media conference on Saturday afternoon, Mottley said the curfew will be removed completely as of June 30.

UK economy accelerates as tourism and hospitality emerge from lockdown

The UK’s economic recovery accelerated in May as tourism and recreation firms reopened, but the delay in ending Covid-19 restrictions is putting hospitality firms at risk, research shows.

Eleven out of 14 UK sectors reported faster growth in output month on month in May, up from nine in April, according to the Lloyds Bank UK Recovery Tracker, as the UK moved further out of lockdown.

Only 5% of Britons would travel at earliest chance

Barely one in 10 UK consumers are keen to take a foreign holiday as soon as possible or reassured they will be able to travel abroad before the end of the year, according to research for Travel Weekly.

A survey by Service Science and Kantar in May suggests 31% of UK adults intend to take an overseas holiday by April next year, but of these only 15% – or barely 5% of the adult population – would “travel at the earliest opportunity”.
