The Walk-a-Thon is Next Week!

Students should wear comfortable shoes and their official 2022 Walk-a-Thon t-shirts, which they will receive the day before the event. Students should also bring a water bottle in order to stay hydrated.

Pledges Due October 4th

In order to ensure the success of the Walk-a-Thon, all students are asked to collect pledges, with the hope that each student can earn at least $200 in pledges from family, friends and neighbors. For their hard work, students who are able to collect $200 in pledges will receive a drawstring bag and will be eligible for other great prizes! If you haven't already, please set up your family's online donation page. We strongly encourage all donations be made online, however cash and/or checks will be accepted with a pledge sheet.

Teacher Spotlight: Diane Ryan

Each month our Student Council members will interview a teacher for our Teacher Spotlight.

Meet 1st Grade Teacher Diane Ryan

Mrs. Ryan has been a part of the St. Luke community since 2006. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Prior to becoming a teacher, she worked in the accounting department on payroll and accounts receivable. After she had children, she was a stay at home mom. When her children were older, she started helping out at their school and fell in love with education.

Mrs. Ryan believes in Catholic education because she attended Catholic schools all her life. She likes being able to talk about God because He is very important to her. Mrs. Ryan’s favorite thing about the St. Luke community is how everyone loves one another and helps each other. Her favorite thing about being a teacher is how everyday is different, never boring, and she is always learning new things. This year, Mrs. Ryan is a part of the committees for Field Day and the teacher social club.

VIRTUS Training Session for Volunteers

All adults who wish to volunteer at St. Luke School, including classroom visits and chaperoning field trips, must complete all of the requirements outlined by the Archdiocese of Chicago. The first step is to attend a VIRTUS training session. You can attend this class at any local Parish, but St. Luke will be offering a final class at our school on Tuesday, October 11th.

The session will be held in Waldron Hall, located in the lower level of the school. You can register for any of these sessions here. If you plan to utilize child care, please email Michelle DalPino. This training course only needs to be taken once so if you are coming from another Catholic school and have already taken the class you do not need to take it again.
