Christmas Gift Drive

It's that time again! Beginning in November, our family ministry will be starting our donation drive so that we might give back gifts from the abundance that God has given us.

You have TWO different opportunities to give:

1) We will be giving TEEN gifts to Interfaith Housing Coalition. They are need of gifts for TEENS (ages 12-18). People always think of the little ones, but often these students are left without gifts.

2) We will be working to raise money for CLEAN WATER INTERNATIONAL. This organization works to build wells that will provide clean water to countries all around the world.

Come bring an UNWRAPPED TEEN GIFT or buy a water bottle or two to donate to Clean Water.

Celebration of Ministries

Stop by the Breezeway after the 10:00 a.m. service to learn about this Sunday's featured ministries.

The St. Luke's Children's Ministry offers a variety of different opportunities for infants-5th graders in order to bring them and their families into a closer communion with the Lord. Throughout the year, the Children's Ministry offers Sunday School, Children's Chapel, service projects, a Christmas Pageant, monthly fellowship opportunities, and seasonal gatherings. Through our amazing teachers and volunteers, St. Luke's works to put Christ first in all they do, and to work together with parents in raising children that are close to God.

St. Luke's Youth Ministry reaches students in this church and in the local neighborhood in pursuing an active relationship with their God. In a generation that sees God as simply something else on the agenda, St. Luke's youth ministry works to debunk this idea in offering a variety of Biblically sound options and opportunities for students in 6th-12th grade. Students meet weekly for Sunday School, Bible Study small groups, one-on-one discipleship, and service projects. Throughout the year, this group does service projects locally and around the country, holds fellowship nights, helps with children's ministry, attends diocese wide renewal events, and comes together for worship.

Changes to the Ushers' Ministry

We would like to rebuild the Ushers so that each usher is assigned to serve one week each month and we are expanding the Usher Team to include the women of the church. Weeks 2 and 3 are filled, but we need enough volunteers to complete weeks 1 and 4.

Week 5 Usher Team

We are looking to build a week 5 usher team with our teenagers. In 2012, there will be four months that have a fifth week, starting with January. Please contact Sarah Head if you would like to be a part of this ministry.

Oblationers

We are trying to build a list of couples and individual members who would like to oblate for the church. This ministry brings the host and wine down to the altar during each service. There is no age limit for the oblationers. Once we get this file built, we will be able to notify you during the week when it is your turn.

If you wish to be a part of the Usher Team or the Oblationers, please respond to Pat Melugin at pmelugin@dallaspen.com.

Thursday Morning Bible Study

On November 3rd and each subsequent Thursday from 10:30-11:30 a.m., Deacon Rosemary will lead a Bible Study on 1 & 2 Peter.  The two letters, written by the Apostle Peter, deal directly with courage during adversity and contain practical hints for our lives in today's world. This weekly bible study will follow the 12 lessons from John MacArthur's book, available complimentary for all bible study participants. Make your commitment to attend this Christmas Season. Men and Women are welcome.
