Happy July, St. Luke’s Family!

June brought summer into full swing! Together, we highlighted Sleep In Heavenly Peace during VBS, raising over $2,000 for new bedding. We went to the Florida Annual Conference and participated in Bread for the World's Advocacy Summit in Washington, D.C., to meet with our elected officials about SNAP and WIC. We helped build homes with Habitat for Humanity. We traveled to Rwanda to visit our ZOE Empowers groups. We collected over 300 backpacks for Family Promise and Hope Community Center. We continued to deliver the beds we built in April with Sleep in Heavenly Peace. We shared meals with partners like Matthew’s Hope, Coalition for the Homeless, and Circles West Orange, and we did it all with a smile!

Below are some things to look forward to in July and the following months!

In June, our very own Ann Eppinger led a team of representatives from 6 different Florida United Methodist Conference Churches. Together, they met ZOE Rwanda groups and learned how these amazing youth are growing through their 3-year empowerment program. You can read Ann's full update on St. Luke's Facebook page.

Through our St. Luke’s family of donors and volunteers, our monthly dinner at Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida provides nourishment for the body and soul of others in our community.

Last month after dinner a veteran in a wheelchair made a special effort to thank us for:

  • The delicious meal, calling it the best food each month
  • The kindness, true love, care, and compassion each St. Luke’s volunteer always shows

The St. Luke’s family truly embodies the spirit of Jesus in how we serve the people in our community.
