Isaiah 2:1-5

Psalm 122

Romans 13:8-14

Matthew 24:29-44

Sunday is the beginning of Advent!

The period of preparation for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ at Christmas and also of preparation

for the Second Coming of Christ.

St Luke’s has two different devotionals by the Welcome Board to use

as resources during the season.

For individual devotions, there is the Trinity School of Ministry Advent Devotional.  For family-oriented devotions, the Jesse Tree Devotional

is a great resource.

Small Groups at St. Luke's

Last chance! If you are interested in joining a small group in 2023, we need your info!

Fill out a form either online [ CLICK HERE ] or in-person on Sunday.

We’ll be spending the first two weeks in December sorting out the groups so we can launch them in January.

Why?

We want to offer the people at St Luke’s opportunities to connect with each other and develop genuine, vulnerable community.  It is that kind of a setting where we can know others and be known and grow more in our walk with Jesus.

What?

Small groups would consist of roughly 8-12 people, organized based on a combination of region and availability. When possible, groups will include some diversity in age/stage of life so that members can hear from other perspectives.

Groups would use some of their time to simply spend time together and get to know each other. The groups would also be supplied with topics or content for conversation.  This could be anything from the sermon from the prior week to texts for the upcoming Sunday, to chapters from a book (such as The Common Rule).

Women's Group

Tuesday Night Women’s Group will begin a new study on the book of Ephesians beginning Tuesday, November 29th in the Common Room.

They will be using ‘Ephesians: A Biblical Study” by Joyce Meyers as part of the study.

Contact Linda Hartman for more information.

Celebrate Christmas by supporting Angel Tree Ministries

Christmas is coming soon. Help us bless a child whose parent is currently incarcerated this Christmas by supporting the Angel Tree ministry.

There are 3 ways that you can participate and share the Love of Christ.

Angel Tree Option 1:

Purchase Gifts for Children of Incarcerated Parents

There are 13 gift tags remaining on the Angel Tree in the Café.

We don't want any of the children to be missed this Christmas.

Select a tag, purchase a gift(s), and bring your wrapped gift to the church by Sunday, December 4th.

Gifts can be placed on the table by the Angel Tree.

Angel Tree Option 2: Purchase Gift Cards for Caregivers

Angel Tree Option 3: Volunteer at the Angel Tree Party

Akron Pregnancy Services

Did you know that clients of Akron Pregnancy Services (APS) who attend classes and groups for themselves, infants, and children are rewarded by shopping for free material goods and other needful items in the APS store? And we get to join in by helping to supply their store!

APS is collecting new or gently-used 3T-5T clothing, maternity clothing, and all sizes of socks, up to 5T through the end of November. Please place your donations in the bin found in our Main Entrance by this Sunday, November 27th.

Christmas Food Baskets

St. Luke’s will be giving out Christmas Baskets of food to those in our congregation and community who are in need this Christmastide.

You can participate with a monetary donation or by volunteering to shop for or distribute Food Baskets on December 17th from 11:00AM – 1:00PM.  Contact Paula Prentice for more information

Come join us in "Bob's Cafe" after the service this Sunday for a time of fun, fellowship, and delicious food.

Sunday Menu:

Italian Beef Sliders

Vegetable Casserole

Garden Salad

Cookies

Kid's Menu:

Chicken Nuggets & Chips

All donations cover the cost of food.

Extra proceeds will go to our outreach ministries.

This Christmas we will be having our Christmas Eve service on

Saturday, December 24th, at 5:00 PM.

There will be no services on Sunday, December 25th, so that you each may spend the morning celebrating our Savor's birth with family and friends.
