St. Luke's Weekly E-pistle
Week of December 13, 2015

Good afternoon,

We hope this finds you having a peaceful and blessed Advent.

Please read below to learn about our happenings for the week. The Christmas Service Schedule is also listed below.

Have a wonderful week ahead!

St. Luke's Office Staff
Craftivity is tomorrow at 2 p.m.

Come join the Christmas fun on Saturday, December 12, at 2 p.m. in the Parish Hal. We will be making crafts and ornaments, enjoying ice cream and cookies, blessing the Christmas tree, and meeting Santa!!

Stewardship Campaign Update

Please read the special note below from Fr. Pierre-Henry Buisson:

We are at a good point in our 2016 stewardship campaign.  So far we have received 166 pledges totaling $391,000. And each week, more pledges arrive at the office.

Thank you and blessed be God!

As a comparison, our 2015 stewardship campaign ended on December 31st with 178 pledges totaling $392,300. Our growing ministries and our desire to be generous through Outreach call us to grow beyond that level. Let us continue to pray for growth in generosity, and that we may continue together to fulfill our mission to know Christ and to make Christ known.

If you have not yet submitted your pledge for 2016, it's not too late. If you did not receive a pledge card or lost it, please look in the plastic rack near the Parish Hall or call the office to ask us to mail a pledge card to you.

All pledges received since Consecration Sunday (All Saints Day) will  be presented and blessed on December 19 & 20.

Once again, thank you for your support of St. Luke's ministries.

DSCA Dinner Updates

The Don't Spend Christmas Alone Dinner is rapidly approaching in 14 days.

We are in need of your help to clean out the small kitchen refrigerator and the large kitchen refrigerator and freezer for the Christmas Dinner. Two hundred ninety ( 290) pounds of ham along with one hundred eighty (180) pounds of frozen green beans, ten (10) gallons of milk and bagged cookies will need to be stored in our refrigerators and freezer.  If your organization has placed items in the refrigerators or freezer we ask that you remove them or donate them to a charity that can use them.  We need this task completed by Friday, December 18.

Sunday, December 13: Volunteer lists for DSCA will be removed from the Gathering Hall so make sure you have signed  up for the job you would like.

Sunday, December 20: T he drawing for the quilt made by Carol  Sweeden will be held after the 10 a.m. service.
Thank you for participation and cooperation!

Christmas Flowers

We all enjoy the beauty of Christmas flowers! Remember loved ones, memorials and thanksgivings at this most festive time of year through the gift of flowers. Please complete the Christmas Flowers slip found in your bulletin or click here to download it. Please place your completed slip and donation in the offering plate or return it to the parish office.

Deacon Kimball's  Homemade Treats

Deacon's mustard and Garmisch Nut Stollen is still available for sale. The mustard is $7 and the stollen is $20. 10% of the proceeds will go to the Outreach Commission.

Angel Tree Follow-up

Thank you to all who adopted an Angel. The angel bags are due this weekend, Dec 12-13. Gloria and Hank Martin will receive the bags for the 8 a.m. service and Bob and Lois Hepner will receive them for the 10 a.m. service.
The bags will be delivered to the social worker on the December 15. She sends her love and appreciation to all of you!
Thanks for a great clean-up day!

A note of thanks from Jodie Barnard, the chairperson of the Building & Grounds Commission:

Many thanks to all who came to help in the all-church clean-up on November 20, 2015. Bushes were trimmed, weeds and grass cut, parking lot was swept clean, and the decomposed granite was spread around trees on the back lot. Inside, both kitchens were cleaned and polished.  A buffer was rented and the Parish Hall and both kitchen floors were scrubbed and buffed. In the Sunday School hallway, the years of scotch tape and residue were cleaned and removed from the all doors and wood work.

Thanks for all the hard work.
