July 31 Workshop on Organizing Your Personal and Financial Matters
If the person in your family who had previously handled the finances died, what would the surviving spouse or executor find?  Would they find everything neatly organized or would they have to go through the deceased' desk, unfilled papers, file cabinets, and numerous boxes to at least partially understand the family's finances?  Please Join Ron Davis, for a 45-minute workshop, on Sunday July 31, after the 10 a.m. service in the Parish Hall , to discuss and begin the process of leaving a very special gift to your spouse or executor - the gift of organized and complete personal and financial information.

A New Pastoral Care Ministry at St. Luke's:  Stephen Ministry
The Stephen Ministry is the one-to-one lay caring ministry that takes place in congregations that use the Stephen Series system, equipping and empowering lay caregivers-called Stephen Ministers-to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting. (From the Stephen Ministries Website)

An anonymous and generous person made a gift to fund this exciting new ministry for St Luke's. Malcolm Shaw, who is already a Stephen Minister, has accepted to be St Luke's Stephen Leader. He will attend a week-long training conference in Dallas at the end of July. His role will be to organize, train, and lead this new ministry at St Luke's. Malcolm will have the opportunity to explain his ministry after his training.

When will this ministry begin? Because a serious training is needed to become a Stephen Minister, the first step will be to recruit, train (or re-train) Stephen Ministers. The Ministry should be available sometime in the Spring.

Please Keep Malcolm in your thoughts and prayers!
Save the Date: Native Ministry Gathering

Don't Spend Christmas Alone
A note from this year's Chairwoman, Angeles Ramos Zarate:

It's never too early to share about one of the most impactful events of our community, Don't Spend Christmas Alone. To become more familiar with the history of this event, reports and related documentation dating back to 1999 have gone through my hands recently. The ups and downs of preparing, serving and delivering hot meals are numerous especially when it's a dining group of several hundred. It is clear to me that volunteers present, past and those that have left us, did not stop. The outcome result has a happy ending; sending our guests not only with a full belly, but with the true gift of Christmas in their hearts. St. Luke's parish members go beyond the meaning of being a "volunteer". Their performance shows that they focus on the outcome and that barriers are only opportunities to go beyond one's limits. I take this opportunity to thank all people that have taken part to produce such remarkable event, year after year for some of you. This Christmas dinner will mark St. Luke's 36th, Don't Spend Christmas Alone. Hats off to you! Prayers of thanksgiving for answering the call to share your time and talent. Don't be a stranger, you hear?

Respectfully, Angeles Ramos Zarate, Chairwoman dsca1225@gmail.com (480) 319-2614
