Calling Veterans and their families!
Veterans' Day, November 11, is fast approaching. This year we would like to expand our previous years' observations by having a special coffee hour to honor our veterans and putting together a list recognizing current veterans and a list of remembrance for those no longer with us. Please email or drop off at the Church Office or in the Gathering Hall the following information: name, branch of service, dates of service, and a picture, preferably in uniform. For the spouses or children of veterans, please do the same for your loved ones. We need this as soon as possible so we can compile our honor display. We can copy photos! Please let us know if you would like to help make this a very special celebration. Contact Ed and Jan Hume by clicking here.

Gurley Street in Prescott.
Come and watch The Champions on November 12
The Champions, a documentary, which will be shown on Saturday, November 12, at 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall, is an inspirational story about the pit bulls rescued from the brutal fighting ring of former Atlanta Falcon's star quarterback, Michael Vick, and those who risked it all to save them, despite pressures from PETA and the Humane Society to euthanize the dogs. It is a story of second chances, redemption and hope. This uplifting documentary takes us on a journey about more than just dogs-about prejudice, being misunderstood, the power of resilience, and the significance of the relationship we as humans have with animals.

The Public Libraries are happy to partake as well; Jennifer Kim, Adult Services Librarian from Prescott Valley (PV) and Darlene Westcott from Chino Valley (CV) are already inspiring others to be a part.

Flyer Distribution  Committee Leaders, Wally Wands and Jim Damm finalized designing the flyer that
will be distributed in the quad-city communities early December. Scott Howard of Kwik Kopy was diligent to reproduce the 1,500 copies needed. He gave St. Luke's a substantial discount to the bill.

Words of appreciation come short when our gratitude is immeasurable. The kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity of the people that take part in Don't Spend Christmas  Alone , is what makes this event one of a kind.  All thanks to YOU.

Please thank and support the businesses that join St. Luke's to service the Quad-city community .

Help Needed with Distribution of Don't Spend Christmas Alone Flyers

We have maps on the different areas we assign you and would welcome all volunteers. Please call Wallis Wands 775-2972.
Christmas Cards for the Forgotten Ones
The Season of Advent challenges us to prepare for the coming of our Lord. Remembering the marginalized, the needy, is definitely one way we can prepare and is something that may already be on your hearts. Many of us send out of Christmas cards to loved ones and acquaintances during this holiday season. Might you consider expanding your Christmas card list to include the ladies at Perryville Prison in Goodyear, AZ, who attend Episcopal worship services. Many of these women never receive a piece of mail during their incarceration. Holidays and birthdays come and go without any acknowledgement from the "outside world." They truly feel forgotten. The Sunshine Club was formed to meet this need. You can access a downloadable PDF address list for the ladies on the Diocesan Prison Ministry website under the  Sunshine Club menu - monthly birthdays or click this link:  www.prison.azdiocese.org/Sunshine.

For those who feel led to send a Christmas card to any of these women, please download the list. It is suggested that you use your church's address for the return address and simply sign the cards with a first name only or "Your family at (church name)." Those inmates who are able to afford to purchase stamps will reply and you can post their notes on a bulletin board at church.
Outreach Commission Notes
The next Outreach Commission meeting is scheduled for November 14 at 4 p.m. in the Conference Room at St. Luke's. We would welcome your attendance at this or a future meeting to learn more.
