faith.forming.faith Immersion Weekend - August 25-27, 2016 in Tucson
Please read the excerpt of a letter from Bishop Kirk Smith:

Dear Colleagues in Ministry,

As leaders in our communities, we understand that growth for our parishes requires change, and that is sometimes difficult to achieve without having solid tools to strengthen Christian formation for the individual and our church communities.

At this year's Presbyter's Retreat we were blessed with presentations from The Rev. Dr. Rick Rouse and The Rev. Paul Hoffman, skilled practitioners in the Catechumenate process. This ancient practice speaks to the post-modern heart, as well as to our older, traditional members about how God is working in their lives. At that retreat, many of you asked for a follow-up opportunity to train in this process.

As a result, I committed to sponsoring such an event with the hope that you, along with your lay leaders would take full advantage of it. On August 25- 27, 2016, The Rev. Paul Hoffman will be returning to Arizona to conduct an intensive training conference on the Catechumenate process at the Redemptorist Renewal Center located at 7101 W. Picture Rocks Road in Tucson. Read more.

EfM - Education for Ministry
Education for Ministry invites people into small, mentored communities that help us understand our lives and shape our actions as we deepen our Christian faith. We believe a gracious God calls us into relationship to serve the world. Through study, prayer, and theological reflection, EfM enables us to discover and exercise our gifts for ministry where we live and work.

EfM at St. Luke's begins Thursday, September 1. For more information, contact Sharon Neece by email  here.
Wednesday Evening Bible Study Resumes in September
The Wednesday evening Bible Study will resume on Wednesday, September 7, at 6 p.m. This bible study occurs weekly and all are welcome!
Nursery: the little children need you!
St. Luke's is such a great place to grow in faith and it starts in the nursery! This is not about watching them play, this is a real ministry where you get to engage with the little ones and bring them to Jesus.  It is also so important for the parents to have a safe and spiritual place for their kids to be while they are in worship. Please consider helping in the nursery. It will be rewarding and fun! See Sophie or contact her by clicking here to volunteer! You may also sign up in the Gathering Hall.
Help Needed at Prescott Community Cupboard
More packers are needed for the Prescott Community Cupboard Food Bank. It is a wonderful chance to serve your community and let people know how great St. Luke's people are. The commitment is one afternoon (about 3 hours) every seven weeks. No one works alone...a couple can do it, or, if you are single, we will pair you with another St. Luke's member. Please consider this very important and worthwhile volunteer opportunity. Any questions, or if you wish to sign up, please contact Sally Phelps  at  bbopgogo@msn.com . THANK YOU!
Undie Sunday Colletion - Help a Veteran in Need
Once again Saint Luke's is participating in an annual program to help show appreciation to veterans in need.  Beginning tomorrow, August 7, and continuing through  September 18,  there will be a collection box in the  Gathering Hall for donations  of new undies and socks for both men and women who served in the military. Please do not contribute used clothing for this
program. Items collected will go to veterans in the tri-city area.  Sleeping bags in good condition are also accepted.  For additional information please contact Barb Weeks at dbwa2az94@gmail.com.
Save the Date - A Taste for Mission on September 25

Don't Spend Christmas Alone - 2016 - St. Luke's Gift to the Community
Update:
The Committee Leaders Planning Meeting took place on Sunday, August 7th, after the 10:00 a.m. service in the conference room. There was a lot of energy and enthusiasm. The desire to make a difference was clear and wisdom and love was collective with all in attendance.

I take this opportunity to acknowledge our team's new Committee Leaders; they bring an array of diversified professional skills and an amazing desire to serve. They are: Ernie Howell, Sharon Neece, Doug Ogburn, Beth Shaw, Katie Staudt, Keehna Sture, and Angel Vandegrift.

And for all blessed Committee Leaders that return to the team eager to share their wide range of experiences with wisdom and love. They are: Chuck & Pat Eaton, Sylvia McIntosh, Laura Norman, Kathy & Jim Pessin, Barbara Weeks, and Wally Wands / Jim Damm.

We take a moment to thank our beloved and departed member, Malcolm Shaw, who, in a very short time, made a great contribution to our team. May your soul rest in peace.

When you come across Don't Spend Christmas Alone Committee Leaders, please be sure to thank them for their willingness, disposition and courage to be at the front line of St. Luke's Episcopal Church's largest community outreach event.

Thank you!
Angeles Ramos Zarate
