Recently, a couple in their late 30s informed me of their desire to get married. Delighted, I scheduled a meeting to cover our church policy and all the necessary preparations for their special day. Finally, the time arrived for them to pick the readings. I showed them the suggestions from our Book of Common Prayer and asked them to let me know their preferences.
About a week later they emailed me their choices. I quickly recognized the usual Genesis "one flesh" reading and first Corinthians. However, the Gospel selection was not one I readily recognized for a wedding reading. I Googled Mark 10:46-52 and read the familiar story of the healing of the blind Bartimaeus. I thought they had made a mistake, so I called them, and they confirmed that both had made this selection.
IT'S COMING!
Chili Cook-off

Our best chefs are competing and our youth dare you to come taste the most tempting recipes! Enjoy the crafts and pumpkin carving, too!

Thanks to the generosity of time and talent we have 2 new Chairs for Greeters and Oblationers'.  Marilynn Henry will be the chair for the Greeters.  Linda Taylor who faithfully organized the Greeters for four years decided it was time to retire..  Lauree Birchmeier will be the chair for the Oblationers.  Gil and Joan put together the Sunday Oblationers for the past four years.  We are grateful for the service of those who help organize these needed areas of the church.  We wish the new chairs success in carrying on these area. Please welcome the new chairpersons and thank those who have retired ,

THANK YOU to St. Luke's members and friends who C:\Users\cecov_000\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE\XZXZ0974\thank_you[1].jpg
donated to the C C Warm for  Winter Project this past month. Approximately 520 winter clothing items  were collected and will be distributed to  low-income families in Yavapai County  on Saturday, October 27th at Prescott  United Methodist Church on Gurley. These items will go a long way in  helping families with seasonal-appropriate clothing needs in the winter  months ahead.
"The righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and
feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a
stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?" The King
will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these
brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'  Matthew 25:38, 40

From Home with Love
A local organization meets monthly to pack care boxes for deployed soldiers.  If you have magazines you need to clear out of your house, they can use these.  In addition, Sunday funnies, newspaper crossword puzzles, or Wonderword from the Prescott Courier which take no space  in the boxes provide much enjoyment. If you would be willing to help From Home with Love, please share. Just a moment to cut out crossword puzzles.   These may be placed in the box marked From Home with Love for deployed soldiers in the Gathering Hall..
