A Prayer...
I got the news through the church email ---Joe Gorman has died.

He was a former member of the church, moved away to Oregon.

I never had heard of him, but I now know that Joe Gorman is dead.

How odd. I will go on as if nothing has happened, while a family somewhere in Oregon has had this major event in their lived and of course Joe, well, Joe died.

It gives me pause. I am so self-absorbed most of my waking moments that I have to wonder what I am doing in this world. Who do I help? Who do I hurt? Who is standing next to me?

I am oblivious most of the time. I am thinking about myself.

Dear Lord, may I ask You to please gives me a heart that connects to those around me?

I know that I have no way of knowing about the life and death of Joe Gorman and the myriads of souls in Your hands, but I could be aware of the trials and joys of the other members of the choir at St. Luke's. I could pray. I could offer help. I might considerate of the tired mom in the grocery store and offer her a word of encouragement. I could think of someone other than me.

Please forgive me, Lord. Fill me with Your Spirit and help me to walk in the path You have chosen for me. Give me Your Grace and use me in whatever way You see fit. I am here, I am Yours.
In Jesus' name,
AMEN

A Note from Trampus Tribbey
Does God love lgbt+ people?
For us the answer is a resounding yes.  Of course He loves them!
As Emilie mentioned in her sermon, for too many churches the answer is no.
Think about what that means.  Imagine yourself in the shoes of lgbt+ teen, having grown up in a loving church family being affirmed of God's love only to be told since you are gay, lesbian or bisexual God no longer loves you, and the church family who once surrounded you with love and encouragement no longer wants you.
Some of us still struggle with the greater issues of lgbt+ in the church and in society but I hope we can all agree God loves is for everyone, and everyone needs God.
Sunday, 28 May at noon there will be a family potluck picnic at Watson Lake hosted by the Yavapai LGBT+ Coalition for lgbt+ and their allies.  We have the opportunity to take part in this family friendly event, to demonstrate Christ's love to those rejected by His church.
If you can attend, volunteer (clean up, set up, passing out water) or just have questions, please sign up on the sheet in the gathering hall or see/call/email Trampus Tribbey (928-533-4964, ttribbey@asu.edu).  Please wear your name tags or if you have shirts with St. Luke's logo, wear them!
And please remember this event in your prayers!
