St. Luke's Weekly Epistle
Week of July 28
Psalm 138:1-3
I am exceedingly grateful, O Lord
for You have head my cries and complainnts,
and You responded with mercy and strength,
Now my life is overflowing with thanksgiving,
and my mouth is filled with Your praises.
Presiding Bishop issues video message on immigration:  'Who is my neighbor?'
"Deeply embedded in the Christian faith, indeed deeply embedded in the Jewish tradition, which is the mother of the Christian faith, and deeply embedded in the faith and traditions and values of many of the world's great religions, is a profound conviction in a sure and certain value and virtue that care for the stranger, the alien, the visitor, is a sacred duty, a sacred vow."

Education for Ministry -  Is it right for you?
Every baptized person is called to ministry. EfM provides the education to carry out that ministry.  We meet Thursday evenings from 5:30 - 8:00 (mid-September through May).   There are weekly study assignments (resource guides and books provided).
"EfM is a safe, supportive place to learn, explore new ideas, and wrestle with the big questions in the company of others who are doing the same. You will be welcomed, encouraged, and challenged as you do the readings and participate in weekly discussions.  The friendships developed along the way are truly special. A wild ride, but worth every inch!" (Tuscon graduate)   If you think EfM might be for you, please contact Leanne Bryan (928) 713-4014,  or Kathy Pessin (928) 771-2707, (928) 899-0986,
Lay Eucharistic Visitors  are parishioners trained to share Holy Communion with those who are homebound. The "LEV" are sent forth by the whole congregation at the end of a Eucharist, bearing the Sacrament in a small communion kit.  The service of Word and Sacrament helps keep the homebound connected to God and to their worshiping community at St. Luke's.  Anyone who                                                 would like to serve in this ministry please contact
                                             Deacon Chris Christy -
