Calendar Requests due now!!
Calling all commissions, committees, prayer groups, ministries, study groups, musical groups, groups that plan special events,  community groups ...and all those who need to reserve time and space at the church for your important activities...NOW IS THE TIME TO GET YOUR REQUESTS IN!

St. Luke's is a growing, vibrant parish! With this growth comes increased requests for meetings and space at the church. We need to plan for the next Pastoral Year, which is August 1, 2018 - July 31, 2019. This includes any regularly-scheduled meetings (whether weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, etc.) and special events.

For your reference, and to help you with your scheduling, click here for the church's calendar on our website to see what has already been scheduled.

Please use attached  Calendar Request Form to make your request. Please drop it off at Parish Office, place in offering plate, or email to the office ASAP!! Requests due no later than May 20, 2018.
Scholarships Awarded to Four Students
Congratulations to:
Brennen Gallus of Prescott High School,
Caely Maldarella of  Tri-City College Prep High School,
Sarah Nisse of Bradshaw Mountain High School, and
Kateri  Wrublik of Arizona Agribusiness & Equine Center.
We wish all of them well on their college journeys.  They will be recognized at the 10:00 service on Sunday, May 6, 2018.

The Outreach Commission's Educational Scholarship Committee reviewed twenty
applications and selected four finalists, who were interviewed on Saturday, April 28. Although
the plan was to award two scholarships, the generosity of two donors made it possible to make
awards to all four finalists.

The award of these scholarships would not have been possible without the hard work of
sixteen generous St. Lukes parishioners. A big thank you also goes out to the application readers:
Barb Lake, Paul Nelson, and Zibbie Wolter; the essay readers: Susan Bray Anderson, Julie Cargill,  Claire Clark, Marilyn Henry, Carolyn Jones, Sandra McBride, Bill and Joan Preston, and Lolly  Skinner; and the interviewers: Muriel deGanahl, Beth Shaw, and Trampus Tribbey. And of
course, last but by no means least, thank you to Beth Parknowitz for all of her help from the
beginning to the end.

Before we know it, scholarship season will be upon us again. If you have any interest in
participating in the selection process or would just like to know more about it, please feel free
to contact Mary Berkheiser at

Highway Clean-up
The next clean-up of our stretch of Hwy 89, between mile posts 323 and 325, JUST north of the church, will take place on Saturday, May 12, from 8 a.m. to noon. Bring your smiles and gloves and meet at Gabby's parking lot in Chino Valley at 8 a.m. Be sure to wear long pants, closed shoes; hat, gloves and sun block. Water and snacks provided. Please contact Eddie & Tigger Gillam for more information:
UTO In-Gathering is May 13!
UTO encourages people to notice the good things that happen each day, give thanks to God for those blessings and make an offering for each blessing using an UTO Blue Box (available in the Gathering Hall).  The Youth will facilitate the collection on May 13.  100% of what is collected is distributed to support mission and ministry throughout The Episcopal Church and Provinces of the Anglican Communion.
Outreach News
You may be wondering how the Outreach Commission distributes the money from the Outreach budget.  The Outreach Commission asks the following question "Does this organization's request fall within the scope of the Vision and Mission statement?" If the answer is yes then the organization is considered for a grant and the commission discusses the appropriate amount to be award and votes on it.

Click here for the Outreach Commission's vision and mission statements as well as the breakdown of organizations that received funding from the 2018 Outreach budget.

Next Outreach meeting will take place on Monday, May 14, at 4 p.m. in the Conference Room.
It's Graduation Time!

Please let us know if someone in your family is graduating this year!! We'd like to know who it is, your relation to the graduate, and from where he/she is graduating!! Please call or send the details to the parish office at no later than May 17.

Celebrating Pentecost

To commemorate this diversity present in Jerusalmen and the power of the Holy Spirit to reach all peoples  we will be celebrating Pentecost this year (May 20) with an International Potluck after the 10:00 a.m. service.
OPTION 1; treasured family or other recipe from your family's heritage.
OPTION 2:  Trader Joe's (especially in the frozen food section) has a selection of international foods for those who don't want to "cook from scratch" in the kitchen.
Cards will be available to list the name of the food and the country of origin.  Enjoying the diversity of food from other cultures will highlight the spread of the Gospel and be great fun as well!

Questions:  Contact Mary Queen at

Katherine Schori, past Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, would sometimes use SHALOM in "passing the peace".  Through the gift of the Holy Spirit the many people gathered in Jerusalem, speaking diverse languages, were able to receive and understand the Good News as delivered by the Apostles.

Please join in "passing the peace" in an different language on Pentecost, remembering that the message of God's love is for all peoples. You can google "how do you say peace be with you in (language of  your choice)" to see and hear the phrase in your chosen language.  There is a drop-down menu so you can explore a wide variety of languages.   Questions-contact Mary Queen at

Family Camp!
Save the Date:
July 5-8, Chapel Rock
Family Camp for Families with Children and Youth of All Ages

Family Camp is an opportunity to unplug from the busyness of daily life and reconnect with your children and with the God who made you a family.
It is challenging in this over-programmed, screen-filled culture to take the time out to be present to the people in our families. Chapel Rock is a place where screens are put away and there is space and time to listen to God and to each other.
