Bishop Smith has designated March 3rd as Chapel Rock Sunday.   On that day, the Bishop is asking each church and congregation members to support the  newly created Bishop Kirk Smith Children & Youth Campership Fund. The experiences  that our campers have at Chapel Rock are life changing and extraordinary. Every year,
when we read camper evaluations, camper after camper says, "That was the best week of  my summer!".   It is fun, Christ-centered, and provides the opportunity to grow closer to  God through the beauty and power of our Episcopal Church traditions. Help send  children and youth to camp this summer! There will be a collection taken to support the  campership fund Sunday, March 3rd. You can also contribution online at (note the URL is case sensitive).

This past weekend, we sold 67 lbs of JustCoffee supporting one grower's family this month.
Testimonials on the quality of the coffee are appreciated and will be passed on to the growers.  They love to hear from their customers.
Please contact
with questions or feedback about JustCoffee.

Responding with Gratitude to the Gift of Grace and God's Call to Action
WEEK 7: February 18-24
READ: ROMANS 13:11-15:6
REFLECT: Romans 15:5-6 "May the God of steadfastness and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, in accordance with Christ Jesus, so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. "
1. When have you met "the other" and immediately judged their clothes, living situation, or intellect before getting to know them?  How did that make you feel?
2. When working with other cultures and peoples, what is your motivation?  Are you interested in truly being present and listening with respect to "resolve instead never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of another", or just making yourself feel like you are doing good?
3. Reflect on a situation in the past where you have been fighting for a cause.  Was it worth the emotional capital you invested, especially if it caused animosity or division between you and your community?  How do you think your judgments fit into the bigger picture and God's plan?
4. As humans, we often put off today what we can do tomorrow.  Make a list of things you can do every day to "lay aside the works of darkness and put on the armor of light; let us live honorable as in the day, not in reveling and drunkenness, not in debauchery and licentiousness, not in quarreling and jealousy".  Romans 13:12-14
Inquirers' Class starting March 10
Do you want to become a member of the Episcopal Church?
An eight-week series presented by the Rev Jack M. Wolter will begin on Sunday March 10 at 11:30 am in the Conference Room to prepare those persons who have not yet been sacramentally confirmed (coming from a Protestant tradition) or received (coming from a Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox tradition) by a bishop in the Episcopal Church, or those who want to refresh their understanding of the practice of the Christian Faith in the Episcopal tradition.  YOU are invited to join us for these presentations and discussions.  We hope you will be a participant!
Ordination Update

Invitations will be made available to members of church congregations on Friday, February 22.  Ordination tickets, will be REQUIRED for attendance, even though there is NO cost.  Check your email on February 22 for further details.   Any inquiries about this event should be directed to the Diocesan Office at 602-254-0976. Do NOT call Church for the Nations  (the event venue) as  they will re-direct calls to the Diocesan Office.
St. Luke's is fortunate to have two new committee chairpersons  to carry on important ministries.  Lauree Birchmeier will be the chairperson for Time and Talent. She is working with the past chairperson, Jean Ehlers, and the staff to update the Time and Talent data base.  Sandy McBride will be taking over as the chairperson for the Welcome Table from Brenda Schwartz.  Brenda has helped make the Welcome Table a vital ministry and we thank her for her faithful service.  If you have questions regarding these ministries contact Lauree at , or Sandy at .  Lauree and Sandy exemplify the  generosity of parishioners who work to further the ministries of St. Luke's.
Through UTO, individuals are invited to embrace and deepen a personal daily spiritual discipline of gratitude. UTO encourages people of all ages, children and adults to notice the good things that happen each day, give thanks to God for those blessings and make an offering for each blessing using a UTO Blue Box. UTO receives the offerings, and distributes 100% of what is collected to support innovative mission and ministry throughout The Episcopal Church and Provinces of the Anglican Communion through a grant process.   Last year UTO awarded 34 grants for a total of $1,257,778.17.   The focus was "Becoming Beloved Community: Racial Healing, Reconciliation, and Justice." Two examples:  Arizona: Bridges Reentry, $26,000 to provide long-term, rent-free housing; addiction recovery; emotional and spiritual healing; and economic sustainability for formerly incarcerated women.  Convocation of Churches in Europe Support for Community Refugee Events to Fight Racism & Xenophobia Against Refugees and Migrants $15,512.77 to renovate kitchen and provide essential equipment so that the Joel Nafuma Refugee Center is able to host monthly community events to promote cultural diversity, bridge divisions between locals and newcomers, fight racism against migrants, and move toward becoming the Beloved Community.
