Soup Suppers will start at 5 p.m. with program of study  at 6 p.m.  (see Lent 2017 flyer ).
Abstinence or Investment
Historically, many have thought of Lent as a time of abstinence--giving up something--in preparation for Easter. Consider giving up some time (a most precious commodity) and investing that time in prayer and reflection to enrich your spiritual journey.

Starting this Sunday (as well as on Ash Wednesday) there will be a library cart in the Gathering Hall with books to support you in your Lenten Discipline.  Select a book that speaks to you and take it home for Lent.  Spend some time reading and reflecting each day for forty days. When you are finished return the book to the basket in the library so you that it can be used by others.

You may want to extend your Lenten Discipline into Easter and beyond. Browse the shelves in the library for other resources to support you in your spiritual journey.  If you cannot find something that addresses your area of interest, please let me know. I would like to develop bibliographies that address individual interests.  (We currently have three bibliographies--Women in the Bible; Progressive Christianity; The Psalms)

Membership Commission thanks you!
Dear St. Luke's Sisters and Brothers,

It is with grateful hearts that the Membership Commission extends its "THANK YOU" to each of you for your genuine, loving welcome to our newest guests and members each weekend during services. Without you, the numbers below would not be possible.

The Membership Commission wants to share with you some historical data illustrating where we began and where we are today. These numbers reflect the compilation of the Guest Book signatures that we all invite visitors to sign as they join us for services and invitations sent to guests to join us at the, now three times a year, Newcomer's Luncheon. We have included the total number of Time & Talent surveys returned by parishioners as this indicates our successful follow-up on individual's interests to serve St. Luke's. These are all excellent indicators of how well our guests are being incorporated into various opportunities at the church and the great work our Vestry Liaisons and Commission Leaders are doing to get parishioners involved.

In 2012 the first Newcomer's Luncheon was offered with 20 attendees and 12 Time & Talent surveys completed. There was no Guest Book used.

In 2013 we did not have a Newcomer's Luncheon and collected no Time & Talent surveys.

In 2014, 104 guests were invited to the Newcomer's Luncheon, 40 attended and we received 111 Time & Talent surveys. The use of the Guest Book was introduced.

In 2015, 65 guests were invited to the Newcomer's Luncheon, 53 attended and we received 114 Time & Talent surveys.

In 2016, 108 guests were invited to the Newcomer's Luncheon, 74 attended and we received 95 Time & Talent surveys.

We thank you and we honor your warm, giving spirit which is allowing St. Luke's to grow in the love of God's service.
