St. Luke's Weekly Epistle
Week of July 7
No Family Eucharist on July 7.
Family Eucharist will resume on September 1.
Our Mission Trip in San Diego went really well! The teens worked hard, cleaning and sorting food at the Food Bank. They served dinner at a family homeless shelter and dropped gallons of water in the desert for refugees. We all had a meaningful and powerful experience serving people in need.
Thank you to my wonderful team-Trampus Tribbey, Rich Staudt, Bill Christy-for volunteering their time helping our youth becoming better persons.
Thank you to Mother Denise for helping our youth grow in faith.
Thank you to our chefs George Chesney and Sue Fiery for feeding us so well!
Thank you for your loving letters of encouragement.
Thank you all for your support!
The Border Angels Newsletter highlighted St. Luke's Mission Trip. We served with Border Angels on Wednesday, June 19, providing sack lunches and toiletry bags to migrants in town and left over 30 gallons of water in 100+ degree weather in Jacumba, California for migrants traveling through the desert. When you click on the newsletter, be sure to scroll down for pictures of our youth.
St. Luke's deacon in formation, Keehna Sture, has been informed that the site of her internship will be St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Clarkdale, where Rev. Susan Armer is Vicar.  Keehna will serve at St. Thomas beginning on September 1 and will return to St. Luke's at the end of February, 2020.  Please keep both Keehna and Susan in your prayers during this special phase of Keehna's diaconal formation.
Operation Fair Start Collection Needs
This year backpacks filled with school supplies  for the 325 homeless students in Chino Valley will be provided by the Fire Fighter Angel Auxiliary.
Chino Valley High School teachers need Graphin g Calculators for students to use in the classroom. The math department needs 15 graphing calculators at risk homeless and unaccompanied minor students. Most of these students can't afford to purchase the $100.00 calculators needed for  the various college entrance exams the students are required to take. Monetary donations toward filling this need would be most appreciated.
Please contact Mary Hallford if you have any further questions.

Prison Ministry Impact
I hope you realize just how impactful the birthday cards you send are on the ladies in Perryville. In their dark grey cells, these cards represent the only bright colors they will see during the month they are allowed to display them. All around them is brown dirt, orange/brown uniforms and the endless institutional grey walls. Thank you for bringing that ray of sunshine and joy into their lives!   Blessings,  Kim Crecca (Deacon)
"Let me tell you, receiving those cards is such a blessings. If it wasn't for all the generous volunteers that send those cards I wouldn't hardly receive mail. On my birthday and Christmas those cards are the only ones I receive and they make me feel not so alone! They mean so much! I can't even put into words the joy they have brought into my life these past 4 years! Please share my thanks to anyone who participates in that program!!" ~  April Mooney (Inmate)
Thank you to Daughters of the King for undertaking this ministry at St. Luke's.  Contact Diane Mazmanian at diane.mazmanian@yc.edu if you would like address cards and be a part of this ministry.

Into your hands, O merciful Savior, we commend your servant Jay. Acknowledge, we humbly beseech you, a sheep of your own fold, a lamb of your own flock, a sinner of your own redeeming. Receive him into the arms of your mercy, into  the ble ssed rest of everlasting peace, and into the glorious company of the saints in light. Amen.

May his soul and the souls of all the departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
