This is Our Story
 - A Gathering for Young Adults
is an invitation to reflect on the story of your spiritual journey within a community of fellow travelers during the season of Lent. From March 10th through April 14th, we will gather as a group and ponder our spiritual journey through the lens of a particular theme. The first week we will consider spirituality. In succeeding weeks we will reflect on the Church, the Bible and other inspiring texts, image(s) of the Divine, and our experience of God. In our final gathering we will share our hopes for the next chapter in our spiritual journey. This is a gathering for young adults and will take place on Sunday evenings in the conference room from 6:00-8:00pm. We will gather for a meal and then have our time of discussion and close with Compline and clean-up. For questions, please contact Mother Denise Muller at  or 928-778-4499. Please   register on Eventbrite  so we know how many people to expect.
Hosts Needed for Lenten Soup Suppers
1) We are looking a set of hosts for each week. This could be a small group (prayer, ministry, commission) or a group of 6-8 individuals.

2) Hosting groups are responsible for set-up, clean-up, and providing soup and bread. Set-up includes setting up beverages (coffee, water, etc.).

3) Need: 6-7 soups (1 veggie option) and several loaves of bread

The staff of St. Luke's will be hosting the first of the soup suppers on Wednesday, March 13, at 5 p.m. See you there!
JustCoffee for sale this weekend
We are selling JustCoffee after all services this weekend, March 9-10. Be sure to find us in the Parish Hall even if you can't stay for coffee hour. Remember that the coffee growers need the support during Lent, too.

Here is an alternative idea to the Lenten practice of "giving up coffee"...   Cut open the coffee bag so that the grower's name can be affixed to your refrigerator or coffee cupboard.  The name will remind you to say a prayer for her/him when you reach for the beans/grounds.  Change the name with each bag.

Native American Ministry Presentation featuring Karen Clarkson
Circle the date:  Saturday, March 16, 10:30-noon in the Parish Hall, and enjoy meeting a wonderful person and artist.   "A Choctaw Story of Land and Blood" is an art exhibition produced by Prescott resident Karen Clarkson. "Discovering my heritage has been a life-long journey," she says.   Karen raised four children, "always keeping creativity in her life."   Her portraits have evolved into studies of Native American people...and ravens. "With ravens, I can identify with their humanness...simply playful, noble, or curious."   Karen's works are already on display in many galleries in Arizona and New Mexico. This will be an opportunity to hear Karen's story in person and to see some of her artistry . All are welcome, so bring your friends. This is our gift to the community so there is no admission charge.

We build bridges of understanding through learning, caring, respecting and interacting with our Native American brothers and sisters.
Save March 23 rd and March 24 th for St. Luke's Ministry Fair after each service in the Parish Hall.
Come see the many ways you can make Christ Known to your Brothers and Sisters.

Journey Jottings: Notes from St. Luke's Deacon in Formation
February's Deacon Formation Academy classes were held on the 16 th at the Cathedral. Having completed-in January-the module called "Transforming One's Voice," which was capped off by each of us in the Class of 2020 giving a presentation on an envisioned ministry, we are now immersed in a two-month study of two important topics: The Book of Common Prayer, and the role of deacon in liturgy. The BCP class is being taught by Rev. Judy Turberg, a retired priest from Green Valley, whose knowledge and understanding of the BCP are truly remarkable. Rev. Canon Chuck Milhoan, who serves as Deacon at St. John the Baptist, in Glendale, is the teacher for the class on what deacons "do" in liturgy, although he is also giving us a vision of diaconal ministry beyond the four walls of a church, where deacons are most likely to be found during the week.
Last week's post of Journal Jottings was incomplete.  The complete post is available here.

Isiaiah 55:10-11 For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there until they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
