A Prayer for Mother's Day
On this Mother's Day, we give thanks to God for the gift of motherhood in all its diverse forms.

Let us pray for all the mothers among us today; for our own mothers, those living and those who have passed away; for the mothers who loved us and for those who fell short of loving us fully; for all who hope to be mothers some day and for those whose hope to have children has been frustrated; for all mothers who have lost children; for all women and men who have mothered others in any way-those who have been our substitute mothers and we who have done so for those in need; for the earth that bore us and provides our sustenance. We pray this all in the name of God, our great and loving Mother. Amen.

- from Women's Common Prayers: Our Lives Revealed, Nurtured, Celebrated (Morehouse Publishing, 2000)
Cursillo is a way of encouragement, love, and devotion to our Lord and to our brothers and sisters in Christ. The cornerstone of Cursillo are the small groups where we love and encourage one another in our walks of faith. It is what church was always meant to be, what our faith always called us to become.
This weekend we are asking anyone who is involved in Cursillo to wear rainbow colors. We hope you will seek those people out and ask them about Cursillo. We will also have tables in the Gathering Hall providing information.

In a Cursillo small group you find a place of peace, encouragement and love where you can share your struggles, triumphs, questions, and doubts, not to be judged but to be accepted. It is a safe place where we renew our commitment to study, act in piety and work for our Lord.

Our church has many small groups where you are welcome to come and see what Cursillo is all about.

Cursillo weekends are amazing experiences of God's presence and love. No matter where you are in life, or in your walk with God they give you a time to renew, rejuvenate and to better understand your walk with God. In the beauty of Chapel Rock, in a safe environment of love and support, you will experience the peace, joy and love of our Lord.

This summer, July 13-16 at Chapel Rock will be our Cursillo weekend. Places are still available, though registration forms must be in soon.

United Thank Offering - Spring Ingathering May 20-21
The United Thank Offering (UTO) is a ministry of The Episcopal Church for the mission of the whole church. Through UTO, men, women, and children nurture the habit of giving daily thanks to God. These prayers of thanksgiving start when we recognize and name our many daily blessings. Those who participate in UTO discover that thankfulness leads to generosity. UTO is entrusted to promote thank offerings, to receive the offerings, and to distribute the monies to support mission and ministry throughout The Episcopal Church and Provinces of the Anglican Communion. In 2016, UTO awarded 32 grants for a total of $1,161,314.62 for the mission and ministry of The Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion.
The spring ingathering of our UTO will be May 20 and 21 at all three services. During the offering time we will pass large boxes in which you may deposit your small, blue UTO boxes. Envelopes with cash, and checks maybe placed in the offering plates. (Please, write checks to St Luke's with UTO in memo line.)
The United Thank Offering Prayer
Gracious God, source of all creation, all love, all true joy: accept we pray these outward signs of our profound and continuing thankfulness for all of life. Keep each of us ever thankful for all the blessings of joy and challenge that come our way. Bless those who will benefit from these gifts through the outreach of the United Thank Offering. This we ask through Him who is the greatest gift and blessing of all, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Missions in Prescott Valley
Below is the excerpt of a letter from Chris and Breanna Lowman who are frequent visitors at our Wednesday Healing & Eucharist service. They are a young couple who feel called to serve.

Since returning to Prescott, Arizona, we have been looking for an opportunity to move into a neighborhood that others may see as troubled so that we could be present and make a difference there. Up until now it had seemed that all doors were closed...we took a leap of faith and sent personal letters out to each of the empty lot owners in the neighborhood, telling them of our vision and asking if they would be willing to sell...

We want to use this property to serve the community... click  here to read the rest of the letter and find out how their dream is taking shape!

Copies will also be available in the Gathering Hall.
Pastoral Care: call for volunteers
Your Pastoral Care Team is currently ministering to more than 30 members of our congregation who are in need of St. Luke's ongoing support and pastoral care. Members of the Pastoral Care Team are Lucy Kemper (Chair), Chris Christy (Clergy Liaison for Pastoral Care), Keehna Sture (Parish Nurse), Jeanne Miller (TeleCare Ministry Chair), Sharon Neece, and Angeles Zarate (Vestry Liaison).

Telecare Ministry
Telecare is a ministry of love! Telecare is a lay-led pastoral ministry, begun in 2016, that expresses St. Luke's care and concern to EVERY member of our church family. For our Spring calling campaign, we are looking for people who are willing to make phone calls to simply "check in" with members of our congregation and to ask if they have any prayer concerns. Calls can be made from the comfort of your own home! During our Fall calling campaign, we heard responses like, "I've been a member of this church for 20 years, and this is the first time anyone from the church has called me. Thank you so much." "Really, you're not calling to ask for money? Wow, we need to do more of this." There will be a brief training session for our volunteers. If you would like to help us please contact Jeanne Miller or any member of the Pastoral Care Team.

Lay Eucharistic Visitors
Our team is in need of several more Lay Eucharistic Visitors who will take communion to those members of our church family who are homebound. What an amazing experience to share the news of the community, prayers and communion with people who may be feeling alone and lonely. Please contact Deacon Chris Christy or any member of the Pastoral Care Team if you feel called to this ministry.
