St. Luke's Weekly Epistle
Week of September 3 , 2017

Almighty God,

We come to you with a heavy heart for Houston and all those communities affected by this storm. While it's tempting to ask you "Why did this happen?", we humbly submit to your will and instead ask, Lord, for you to be a beacon of hope among the wreckage.

Grant safety to the men, women, and little children navigating the dangerous flood waters. Strengthen local clergy and congregants as they provide shelter and aid for their communities. Specifically, give wisdom and present resources to pastors and lay leaders working to provide for the physical needs of those who have lost homes, precious belongings, and are possibly separated from their loved ones. Give them courage to minister to the spiritual needs as well.

No doubt considerable fear and anxiety haunt those in affected areas. Grant unshakable peace and rid this storm's victims of the spirit of fear. Show us all how to respond to the needs of those struggling with frustration and fear, that we may serve you well through your son Jesus Christ.

Because the production company still has not advised The Picture Show in Prescott when the movie will be available - we are no longer promoting them for this particular opportunity - at this time.
THANK YOU all 104 of you who signed up, however.  In the meantime, do enjoy the movie and be safe over the weekend.  Blessings to each of you.

Education for Ministry Startup
EfM (Education for Ministry) invites people into small, mentored communities that help us understand our lives and shape our actions as we deepen our Christian faith. We believe a gracious God calls us into relationship to serve the world. Through study, prayer, and theological reflection, EfM enables us to discover and exercise our gifts for ministry where we live and work.
EfM (Education for Ministry) will begin its Fall Semester on September 7, 2017. The seminar runs as before, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. There are several spots open for new students. This course is in a small group setting and teaches the Bible, its culture, history and theory. It challenges the brain in a fun and interactive way. Anyone who is interested in learning more about EfM, please contact Sharon Neece, or call 760-505-0545.
