St. Luke's Weekly Epistle
Week of June 16
Presiding Bishop Michael Curry's Pride Month statement honors LGBTQ Episcopalians
"You have helped the church to be truly catholic, universal, a house of prayer for all people," the presiding bishop said,.  "You have helped the church to truly be a reflection of the beloved community of God."
We had such a wonderful time!
The kids were adorable,
The volunteers were amazing.
The Spirit was blowing all around!
VBS truly was a spiritual experience for all of us!
I strongly recommend it to everyone next year!
St. Luke's was the host site for the Northern Arizona Clericus meeting on Tuesday, May 28. It was a time for Bishop Jennifer Reddall to meet with the clergy (priests and deacons) from the northern region of our Diocese.  Twenty-one clergy were present! It was a time to exchange stories and visit with the Bishop all while sharing a lovely lunch. There was a great sense of collegiality!
Beth Parknowitz, our Parish Administrator, has created a site about her current health journey on . Those who would like to read updates must create an account on CaringBridge. To get started, follow the link below to read Beth's story.
Deacon Kim Crecca attended our 10:00 a.m. service on Sunday, June 9, and got to see Father Pierre-
Henry bless the beautiful Jean Ehlers banner that St. Luke's Youth Group artfully painted on for the Camp Genesis kids. That afternoon Becky, Mary, and Deacon Kim delivered the 25 backpacks to Camp Genesis - 8 boys and 17 girls.  Chapel Rock carpenters had just finished a beautiful private outdoor space specifically made for these kids with wooden benches under a beautiful burgundy canopy which is where we proudly held up the St. Luke's banner with some of the backpacks below it before the kids arrived.  Later that evening the kids discovered their very own backpacks and relished the finds in their packs. Each pack had a unique painted rock, also from St. Luke's Youth Group. You guys rock! What a wonderful experience you have given these kids as they begin their camp adventure! The spirit of Pentecost in your hearts has truly touched theirs. Thank you all.

In May the pantry served 277, which included two new families. We donated 620 items to Paulden Food Bank, who continue to supply us with fresh fruit and vegetables. B-Organic farms has begun donating herbs and eggs to the Pantry. Our sincere Thank You to all who have donated food items, bags and made monetary donations. Our wish list for the month is canned fruit.

Dear father Pierre-Henry and the Parishioners of St. Luke's,
Your extremely generous gift will help many children create life-long memories and encounter Christ this summer. T hank you very much for your recent contributions of $3,220.00 to the Chapel Rock Campership fund in support of Camp Genesis.
God Bless, Kelly Ward
A note from a choir member:
Your St. Luke's Choir wishes to thank the congregation for your support and prayers throughout our season.
Last Sunday was our final official anthem before our summer break.  We will be back at the end of summer for another year of our contribution to the weekly 10:00am service.    As choir members we are very appreciative of your comments and your letting us know that you enjoy our music.  Our weekly anthem is not possible only because of our voices, but because of our kind loving and talented leader, Dennis Houser.  He and his wife Kay, our organist, along with Margaret Houck, our pianist,  make up the team that bring you the weekly special music.
We do this out of the love we have for our faith and our wonderful church.   During the summer, many of us will be sitting in the choir loft to support the congregation in the sing the hymns.
We don't smile because we sing,  we sing because we smile.
Blessings to all,
Lloyd Needham.

It was a success! We raised $1240.90! But most of all, we all had a great time and the food was delicious! Thank you so much for your participation!
Gathering Hall Display Windows
I would like to coordinate the display windows to focus on the following:  Youth and Children (Sophie), Parish Life, Faith Formation, and Parish Commissions/National Church.  In order to accomplish this and minimize confusion I need your help.  Signup sheets are available in the office for everyone to use in scheduling displays. I would suggest a display two to three weeks before an event.  In addition it would be nice if you could take photos of an event and add them, as soon as possible after the event; leaving them on display for two additional weeks to celebrate our life together.  You can also reserve a window by contacting me at maryjqueen@icloud .com, or 310 530-4001.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.  Mary Queen

Prescott Area Shelter Services is more than just a place of refuge against the unpredictable storm of life that surrounds us all. Professional staff and volunteers from all fields come together to help women and their children who have suddenly found themselves homeless due to circumstances beyond their control. We help these women and their children, physically and spiritually, in recovering from this horrific time in their life. When we reflect upon the mission of PASS, we are reminded, "There, but by the grace of God, goes I!" 100% of all monetary, tax-deductible donations support the needs of homeless women and their children. Donation checks can be made out to either "PASS"l, or "PASS" with a notation "Chaplain Program" in the memo portion, in direct support of the spiritual program. The vision of PASS is to open additional shelters throughout  our communities. The mission of the PASS Chaplain program is to develop growing program serving the spiritual needs of PASS staff, volunteers and homeless women and their children in all PASS shelter locations.
God Bless!
