Sunday School Begins August 6
Sunday School at St. Luke's will be starting on August 6th. Our amazing instructors will be using the Godly Play approach. Godly Play invites children to friendship, lessons, art, and worship that incorporates storytelling, the freedom to wonder and ask, and to create and share. In the words of the Godly Play Foundation, the approach "helps them to explore their faith through story, to gain religious language and to enhance their spiritual experience through wonder and play."

Pre-registration starts on July 23.  Forms are available at the Church office.
Sunday School starts August 6, and services children ages 4-12.
All Are Welcome!  Share this amazing Sunday School with family and friends...families do not need to be members of St. Luke's to enroll their children in Sunday School.

Coffee Hour
A note from Pam Williams, of the Fellowship Commission:

When I started coming to St. Luke's about 5 years ago, about 15-20 people would come to coffee following the 10 am service. Now there are many more proving that St. Luke's is a friendly, warm community and we enjoy each other's company. Our problem - very few folks are willing to bring a snack to go with the coffee we provide each Sunday. It is NOT necessary to bring elaborate food (although we appreciate those who want to do this). An assortment of cookies is all that is needed (and they don't have to be homemade!). Please consider being a part of this ministry!
File Cabinet Needed
A file cabinet is currently needed for music storage at St. Luke's. It must be full suspension and in good condition. If you have one to donate, or for purchase (by music fund), please contact Dennis Houser at

During your time in the beautiful desert campus of the Spirit in the Desert Retreat Center, you will worship, pray, study, and form life-changing relationships grounded in the lectionary Scriptures through the various seasons of the liturgical calendar, all under the leadership of Pastor Hoffman, trained lay catechists, and various other diocesan/synodical pastors and priests. Congregations who send a delegation of a parish pastor/priest and three to five lay members to attend and study will return prepared and inspired to begin a catechumenal process that will not only welcome newcomers, but will transform the parish from the inside, out.

For more information about the Catechumenate and to discern how it might be used in your parish or congregation, it is recommended that you read Faith Forming Faith by Pastor Hoffman, available online through or Cascade Books.

Ignatian Spirituality and Imaginative Practice Presentations
At Arizona ' s 2016 Diocesan Convention,  T he Very Rev. Jeffrey John, Dean of St. Albans Cathedral, England, offered a quick look into Ignatian Spirituality. His comments sparked significant interest in Ignatius of Loyola and his related Spiritual Exercises. Dr. Gil Stafford and The Rev Julie O'Brien will be offering the presentation,  " Ignatian Spirituality and Imaginative Practice."

Stafford is the Canon Theologian for the Episcopal Diocese of Arizona and also the priest-in-charge at St. Peter's, Litchfield Park. O'Brien is the rector at St. Stephen's, Phoenix. Both have studied and practicedIgnatian spirituality in their own ministry and life. The Rev. O'Brien will be presenting "A Brief History and Background of the Practice of Ignatian Spirituality." Stafford's presentation will be on "Ignatian Spirituality,Spiritual Direction, and Discernment from a Jungian Perspective."

There will be two opportunities to learn more about this topic. The presentations will be held in Tucson and Phoenix on the dates listed below. Both presentations are open to the public without charge and Laity and Clergy alike are invited to attend:
