Bishop Smith at St. Luke's for Annual Visitation and Confirmation on Sunday, January 29
Bishop Kirk S. Smith will be visiting St. Luke's on Sunday, January 29, 2017, during the 10 a.m. service. He will also hold a special informational forum during the coffee hour that follows the 10 a.m. service.

Please use the special offering envelope, which will be in your bulletin, for gifts to The Bishop's Discretionary Fund, which is an offering on the occasion of the Bishop's visit. It is used for the care of active and retired clergy and their families and for other special needs.
Cookie get-together tomorrow before 5:30 p.m. service!
Please join us at 5:00 p.m. in the Gathering Hall for a time of fellowship prior to the start of the 5:30 p.m. service tomorrow, January 28!
Upcoming Art Show on Jan. 28 to feature St. Luke's Artists
Pronghorn Ranch's Second Annual Art Show & Reception on Saturday, January 28, 3 -5 p.m., will feature three of St. Luke's artists and our St. Luke's teens will also be there in support of TAG (Teen Artists' Gathering). Local watercolor artist Caroline Linscott will be sharing her works along with other invited artists. This event is open to the public. It is will be held in the Pronghorn Ranch Clubhouse, 7051 N. Antelope Meadows Drive in Prescott Valley.
Introducing our new Senior Warden, Dwight Willman
Dwight Willman was appointed the new Senior Warden last Sunday, January 22, 2017.

Dwight and his wife Charlotte moved to the Prescott area from East Fishkill, NY in 2013. He grew up in West Haven, CT where he attended and was baptized at the First Baptist Church. In 1984 he was confirmed in the Episcopal Church at St. Thomas Church in Bethel, CT. While at St. Thomas he served as Junior Warden. Before moving to Arizona from New York, he had served several times as a Vestry Member at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fishkill, NY.

He is a graduate of Western Connecticut State College (BSEd) in Danbury, CT and Iona College (MBA) in New Rochelle, NY. He is retired from Entergy Corporation, where he worked as a training instructor.

Over the past few years, Dwight has volunteered in the local area with Prescott Area Habitat for Humanity as a construction volunteer and a member of their Faith Relations Committee. He has also helped out with the Granite Creek Hunger Ministry, Prescott Astronomy Club public outreach, and the Yarnell Hill Recovery Group as a construction volunteer.

Currently, at St. Luke's he is a member of the Outreach and Fellowship committees, a member of the Men's Group, and has recently become a Verger.
It was a GREAT Annual Parish Meeting on the 22nd!
Despite the winter weather challenges over the weekend, we had a wonderful time of fellowship this past Sunday at the Annual Parish Meeting. We had 115 people sign-in at the meeting. We enjoyed a lovely potluck meal and each other! If you couldn't be at the Annual Meeting, there are annual reports available on the red-skirted tables in the Gathering Hall. Please take one!
Elected as Junior Warden was Ted Lee. The new Vestry members elected are: Liz Kennedy, Rosaleen Runnalls, and Angeles Zarate. Those elected as delegates for Diocesan Convention are: Bill Christy, Rich Staudt, Duncan Weir, Julia Weir, and Pam Williams. Leanne Bryan will serve as an alternate delegate.
Family Support Help Needed
In March, Prescott Area Habitat for Humanity (PAHH) will begin to interview new families for the Home Owner program. PAHH is in need of a few special people with the heart to mentor a family through the process from their initial interview to their establishment in a home. As a member of the Family Support Committee, you will receive training and on-going support. Monthly committee meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of each month at 3:30 p.m. in the PAHH office. If you have good people skills and a desire to help families work their way out of poverty, please call the Director of Volunteer Services, Gail Martin, at 445-8003 x 14.
Save the Date: The Truth about Cancer will begin on Feb. 12
Another 10-week session of "The Truth about Cancer: A Global Quest" docu-series, facilitated by Dr. Dayana Leclair, DHM, MS.CN, MS.ED, will begin on Sunday, February 12, at 12:30 p.m. in the Choir Room. It will be offered each Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Choir Room at St. Luke's Church.
Prescott Chamber Orchestra Concert at St. Luke's on Friday, February 3 at 7 p.m. -- Winter Music Memories
The following description comes from the Prescott Chamber Orchestra's website :

"There's nothing like the rich sounds of a clarinet, and with our own Scott Richardson as featured soloist, he and the PCO will perform Finzi's Five Bagatelles Op. 23 as well as Introduction, Theme and Variations for Clarinet and Orchestra by Rossini. The very talented Jackson Nichols will be our featured student musician as he performs with the orchestra Haydn's Cello Concerto No. 1 in C Major. With Rachmaninoff's Vocalise, rest assured this beautiful program of music will warm your spirit this winter."

Tickets can be purchased online at in advance ($18 adults; $4 students) and at the door ($20 adults; $5 students).
Operation Deep Freeze
Operation Deep Freeze is an emergency shelter for the homeless held at the Salvation Army when temperatures are 25 degrees or less when dry outside, 30 degrees or less when wet outside and/or any night when there are two or more inches of snow on the ground.

St. Luke's is responsible for providing dinner for about 15 men during the week of  Feb. 13-19  when temperatures are as described above.  A sign-up sheet is in the Gathering Hall. A number is provided to call to see what the anticipated temperatures will be. Food must be commercially prepared (Costco/Sam's Club/ etc.) or prepared in the Salvation Army kitchen.  Dinner is to be served at  7:00 p.m.   For additional information, see the sign-up sheet or call Kathy Pessin 771-2707.
Wheelchair Needed 
NEEDED:  a large-size wheelchair for use during medical emergencies during church services or activities in the Parish Hall.  If you, or anyone you know, have one that you no longer need, and are willing to donate it to St. Luke's, please contact Keehna Sture, R.N., Parish Nurse, at  THANK YOU!
A Women's Retreat at Emmanuel Pines Camp in February
"Life in the Zone," a women's retreat for women of all ages will take place February 17-19, 2017, at Emmanuel Pines Camp in Prescott. Cost is $110 which includes lodging, meals, and supplies. Scholarship funds may be available. Invite a family member or friend to join you for this exploration of our lives-under-construction in Christ! Altar flowers are given in thanksgiving for our many blessings or a special event, in memory of a loved one, or to the glory of God. They are an offering that enrich our worship space. You may sign-up on the Altar Flowers poster on the bulletin board in the Gathering Hall.
